Are the GB/their suck-ups doing it on purpose as some have intimated?

We've all see the disgusting statements the GB are unleashing on the JDubs by way of their rags. Usually the 'in house' watchtower where we've seen 'mentally diseased apostates' and 'Jehu' slaughtering 'apostates'.

Then we see a battered wife staying with her husband (if the story can be believed), for 17 years before 'Steve' gets assimilated into the bOrg.

Are the GB printing this dangerous stuff to get noticed by 'apostates' so that there is a negative reaction against the GB? Are the GB doing it to 'bait' exJWs so the GB can then cry: 'persecution'?

Is it all a set up so that the JWs think persecution at the hands of 'apostates' is a sign that the big 'A' will be soon and thus keep them locked into the cult believeing the GB are protecting them?

Are the GB printing vitriol as a plot to get a reaction that will make the JWs think they're being persecuted?

In truth, I don't know what to think.

I highly doubt it personally. I think it's just evidence of the Governing Body growing increasingly out-of-touch with reality, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I certainly don't think it should be allowed to pass by unchallenged.

Cedars - You'd think the GB's henchmen would be up to date. Unless it's like in the Simpsons where everyone just agrees with Mr Burns even though he's totally wrong. Where the accountants tell him his financial desicions were all good and his stock is growing...........but it's all worthless in reality.

I do sense a crackdown in control by the WBT$ though, deffo!

Not necessarily. I don't think it's in the job description of a GB henchman to be "up-to-date", although perhaps it's a bonus. I think the key criteria for anybody who wants to work their way up the ladder is to venerate the Governing Body, view their opinions as sacrosanct, maintain "unity" at all cost and obey orders without question.

I would love to think it's more complicated than that, but I just don't see it personally. You raise an intriguing question though....

I have been pondering this issue myself punkofnice. My own feeling is that the GB are addressing what is actually happening within congregations. The mentally diseased watchtower is designed to protect JWs from apostates because I think that nowadays every family has at least one apostate/active fader in it. I think practically all witnesses in the West are touched by some form of rebellion within their own family and close friends. And then of course there is the internet.

Regarding Selma who was struck by Steve - My view is that Jehovahs witnesses as an organisation is very active in dealing with issues of domestic violence and that they come across it a lot in the ministry. I think this needs to be considered when addressing why the GB has printed this example.

locally in London amongst Jehovahs witnesses battered women are helped and supported to leave their violent husbands and vice versa. This has happened on a number of occasions.

Plus active jehovahs witnessses would supply a different context for reading this article and most would not read into it that the GB are asking battered women to stay with their violent partners.

edit: the GB are unconcerned about how they are viewed in the outside world. Also If met someone like Selma I would prioritse to direct her to seek the support of a women's refuge instead of prioritising her focusing on continuing her study. But being inactive I no longer go door to door.

Was wonderin' that myself. My first thought was that the GB simultaniously came down with dementia. But they're not THAT old and somebody has enough brainpower to have grown the company

assets to tens of BILLIONS. It appears to be an attempt to curb JW's from from embracing ANY ideas contrary to the Borg or sympathy for ANYONE disfellowshipped. In addition,keeping self esteem

low is helpful to keep the rank and file submissive . These outragious statements sure to provoke many WITHIN could help "flush out" any who they feel are "not of our sort". Any questions or

complaints would notify the elders and super-dubs who needs to get the boot. If the public is outraged and some form of action is taken it would serve to energize the beliguered rank & file and

distract from the abysmal doctrine inconsistancies.

Thats what i try to think. I got the same questions which kind of heading they are choosing.

Now there are 7 GB members. I think the first mayor goal was to grow the JW membership or publishers.

The second half of 2011 you read alot of warning this that etc etc in their magazines. and stories like Selma to keep the sheep in line even they are hit.

They play now: keep the amount of members as it is for now and do damage control and try to eliminate all danger.

First of all the GB can't claim persecution, cause in Mark 13:13 Jsesus told his dsiciples

"you will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my name"

the jehovah witnesses are not witnessing about Jesus, they are being ridiculed

because people see that they are not following the orders of the king (Jesus) they are a bonifide cult

On page 199 in the reasoning book, under the heading of Jehovah witnesses it states:

"anyone who publicly witnesses about Jehovah is usually identified as a Jehovah's witness

Accordin' to bible scripture they are not persecuted because of what they are doin'

they are bein' laughed at because of what they are NOT doin'

Cedars – Intriguing indeed. I hear the GB have iPads. Perhaps one is posting here!

Soft_gentle – I was wondering how the JWs would see the Selma (Homer’s SIL?), story. Perhaps it was sloppy writing? Then they translated it differently in at least a couple of other languages….Steve was just ‘angry’. I wonder why they did that!?!?
