I asked a circuit overseer once (he called me down for saying it) - and he thought it was because the U.S. Navy used it. Seriously.

Geez, I never knew this! It's really too bad that so many pioneers are joining the ranks and women make an army and the word of truth is a sword. . .

Like Cedars said, this is what they come up with at the GB meetings? Their obsession with unity uniformity is sickening. God forbid they reconsider something significant like busting up families like Flippers with their disgusting DA/DF policy or their death-dealing blood policy.

    Amazing.

Evidently our elders were asleep at the school or this new light hasn't filtered through to England as yet.

Last night's announcements were business as usual, Sunday's talk and speaker, what's coming up tonight, special arrangements for Christmas Day party meeting.

@ St George of England: "or this new light hasn't filtered through to England as yet."

Better watch out. The Unity Police will be knocking down the door any minute!

Why don't they just post all the material for the entire meeting on the notice board, thereby dispensing with the need to have any of it delivered from the platform by a human being?

Maybe they could just publish the material in a monthly new bulletin and we could all just read it and stay home and save the gas and not have to dress up?

Oh, they do publish it already.

What an original idea: stay home

Seems like that is what about 30% are doing already.

Well, jameswoods, it's a good thing the CO nipped that in the bud or people would have been signing up to be sailors right and left.

Well, I was just a 20-year-old new assistant congregation servant at the time - but it immediately occurred to me that there were a lot of other things that they say in the U.S. Navy that JWs have no problem with: Like for example - chair, table, wastebasket, typewriter, anchor, propellor - well, lots of words (ordinary words) that they use.

LOL Blondie - the more JW things change, the more they stay the same...
