Very tiny change to Service Meeting Announcements protocol.

One more word of Catholic origin: the Divine Name that the JWs think is so special was provided for them by a Spanish Catholic monk, Raymundo Martini.

I understand there actually people who attend the Kingdom Hall and find the service boring!

Some of these people complain to other like-minded people.

Eventually, it gets back to the policy makers.

It just might hurt the feelings of these spiritual leaders....or, at least cause them to trim some of the most easily trimmed boring parts out of the meetings.

Thank heavens for small favors. Eh?

Eh. But - what could they be saying that is more interesting than not saying who is going to do the next meeting?

Perhaps it's because the speakers cancel and a different fellow has to do a last min talk...

very embarrasing for the WT that speakers don't turn up to deliver the announced talk...so delete the annoucing!

The old adage " if youve got nothing to say the least you can do is shut up" wish the WTS (modern Sanhedrin) could understand that.

The more they make every tiny detail like every other tiny detail,

    1. The more people are going to stay home rather than wasting the time to attend the boasting sessions. Then they will complain because people are missing too many boasting sessions.
    2. The more people are going to give zero donations. Donations are not an inalienable right--they are a privilege. To receive a donation is a privilege that is generally earned by giving quality content. Doing this means the quality isn't going to be there, and hence the privilege of receiving a donation will be retracted.
    3. The more new people attending for the first time will simply find it wimpy or boring (or both) and not like it. If they don't like it, they discontinue the studies.

Toward the end, I used to look at the announcements as posted on the board. Often, I could stay abreast with the congregation even after missing a few weeks of boasting sessions just by looking at where the announcements are posted. I can also stay ahead of any talk slip I might receive by simply looking on the board where it is posted, even if I am not at the boasting session when it is announced. I can also stay ahead of the public speaker, if I check the board and they keep it up to date.

I'm still waiting for this to be read or posted at the hall where I go. I mentioned to an elder-friend of mine that I had heard this news . I love this site for that, but was this only implemented in UK or is it in the US also?

This will be forgotten in time, and we will still continue to call this the Bulletin Board. Last week, I saw a thank-you card on that board.

It's so crazy to see what the Soc tends to split hairs over. They have no control over the boredom of meetings, low attendance rates, low service hours, people leaving their marriages. Marrying outside of the faith. But, that Bulletin Board....Heads are going to roll over that one.

@ jameswoods: Is the WT prohibition of "bulletin board" based on the related Papal Bull?

    • This is why I now refer to people with the words like: "your toilet paper" instead of "Ass Wipe" or "Richard Cranium" instead of "DickHead or DickBrain"...I'm really trying hard to be politically correct :) wouldn't want to offend anyone.

I used to hate doing the announcements. When I was an MS I seemed to do them every other week.
