    This is bookmarked for me

The busy work of learning new terms is welcomed. I got knocked one day for not using "CC" Congregation Coordinator and instead was still

using "PO" Presiding Oveseer. I coul not wait to clip the next person on that myself. It's catchy and contageous busy work.

When a brother wants to show off how long he has been in and keeping up, he will use the examples from one to the next to current in his talk.

I clearly remember the "Public lecture"/" Public Discourse" given before the WT study on sundays, and their was never any "public "in attendance.

Then again, maybe they were invisibly present.

The new "Public Witnessing" term does not really distinguish the work from D to D work in my mind, I mean, dressing up in a cheap suit, and therefore looking really out of place, and knocking on every door in a street is hardly "Private" as opposed to public is it ?

Why do they need a different term for each, surely the zealous JW will preach at every opportunity? to delineate in this way does not encourage that, thankfully.

hamsterbait - I'll meet with you and 2 others in the back room whilst you discuss my 'qualifications'(TM) then. I'll come quietly and obey obey obey.

I have a normal bottom I'd say. OK for sitting on during 'judicial committees'(TM)

Some change in wording I WOULD like to see =

'Governing Body of Jehovah's witnesses' (TM) being referred to as 'Those that went to the electric chair for crimes against humanity'. That'd make my day..ESPECIALLY if they let me throw the switch!

No doubt they'll spot that little flaw in another 20 years Wobble, when they will print another very important article in their newsletter announcing yet another crucial change in terminology that the brothers must follow.

When I was studying, there were always a group of elders pouring over the KM for some scraps off the GB's table when it came to these buzz words. They adopted them immediatly and then sprinkled them all over their talks and speech. "I'm more spiritual than you are, I have these new special words." The elder studying with me is one of those elders. He told me that when someone uses old terms, they know they aren't keeping up with the organization

Bigmac: 40 plus years back---door knocking was called different words----the "effort"---became "rendezvous for service" ( i kid you not!!)

Bigmac I remember that, than they made a big deal NOT to say rendezvous because that can mean an affair or sexual connotation

    Shoulda known back than SMDH!

We also had a chart at front of the hall with a column for PUBS.

That probably confused a few newbies.

Note for non-UK members - PUBS = Public Houses (abr)
