Hahaha No not you wrong it's OK for us to be wrong. That's what I mean. May I please warn you about dissecting everything? That was my goal.

I will reveal something that I never thought was relevant. My parents were ethnic whites who worked very hard but bought a home in a ghetto city that is notorious. B/c of the Witnesses, I always grew up with black people. Some of the JW relationships went back generations. They were close to relatives. My experience was very different than the white kids in the neighborhood who were raised to be extremely racist. The tensions between ethnics and blacks over a few crumbs while the middle class feasted always annoyed me. We had interests in common more than against each other.

My schools had severe racial riots. I was called "girl", "what you lookin at, girl," beaten, harassed horribly. No teacher protected us b/c they were afraid. There was no way I would ever respond with "n" because I knew better at my moral core. Education saved me. I lived such a nice, comfortable, not much tension existence in NY. Returning home for one day, I shook with fear. Girl makes me livid which is why you do.

When you call me girl, you may annoy me temporarily but you degrade yourself far more in the long run. There is thuggery. From my first post, you have followed me around and said that objective facts were false. Well, every lawyer knows facts are malleable. I try to be clear what is my opinion. You cna't correct my opinion because it is mine. This is a massive Twelve Step principle. You can disagree with it but you cannot say my feelings and opinions are illegitimate.

I am not some removed WASP who has no knowledge of the streets. If I were home, there would ways to balance out the insults. I find it very sad to find racial tension with you. My life was often at risk for having black friends. No exaggeration. If we bonded together in high school, life could have been so much better for all.

I should probably qualify that. Misunderstandings can be right unworldly, can't they? That's what "wonderful Babylon" means. I'm not for it. But I shall be content with the present things.

Of course they did not (peace and love to you, Shelby). They had the Spirit within them to teach them. Did they check the scriptures sometimes... sure, why not? But did they check the scriptures to test for proof of what the Spirit taught them? I can't see that... unless they were giving in to doubt, or their faith was weakened, or if OTHERS needed to see the 'proof' in writing. For the most part, I would say no. I mean, even Abraham... what scriptures did he have to check? He needed none. He walked by faith, and not by sight.

Besides, how likely is it that they each were carrying around a stack of scriptures in their robes?

I would have asked for clarification on your post as well, BOTR. It is what people do when they don't understand something you said.

    Peace,

    Tammy

I hear you, dear N.Drew (peace to YOU, dear one!)... and my sincere apologies for misunderstanding you. Imposing what one THINKS another is saying... on what the other one is saying... doesn't always work. Which is why I try to rely on our Lord's voice as much as I can (and often get myself into trouble when I don't!). I should have asked... but given that I had just done that with another... and, well, we can see how that turned out... I didn't. Shoulda, coulda, woulda...

Anyway, luv, thanks for the clarification... and, as always, peace to you!

YOUR servant, sister, and fellow slave of Christ,

SA, who grew up in what is now the ghetto of her home town (although it wasn't at the time but just as if not more brutal), lives about 2 blocks from where it starts where she lives now... will be working full on in very soon and so knows that in order to be effective she not only has to know but be able to SPEAK the "language"... and can... well... and is quite proud of every bit of ALL o' 'dat!

When I read my posts and they are relatively clear, tough luck. It is not as though a neutral relationship exists. An OP cannot correct people's thoughts-the problem in a nutshell. I write standard English. If you have trouble understanding it, take a grade school English class. If I reread my post and it could be more clear, it is not bothering me to try to have more clarity. Hazing is not Christian.

Chasing people away from this forum means far fewer people to entertain you. You do love an audience which is proven by the length of this thread. There is no discussion of Witness doctrine, culture, the Bible or building a life after the Witnesses. Self praise stinks. Far better to pay someone to praise you.

which is proven by the length of this thread. (you mean that thread, do you not?)

Self praise stinks. (very low blow)

Far better to pay someone to praise you. (WTF?)

That is called "bitch" isn't it?

    Hmmmm, god knows!!!

The apostles experienced the historical Jesus - or according to the legends. He called them to be his disciples. They had to leave their formers lives behind immediately. Besides the apostles, there were hundreds of disciples present. They ate with Jesus, prob. joked with Jesus, played atheltic games. If the gospels are true (and even the Gnostics have the apostles present), they not only had his sayings but the experience of knowing him on an intimate basis. When they encounter him on the Road to Emmaus, they do not recognize him until the breaking of bread. The Passion must have been beyond horrific to them. Mary Magdalene, Mary and Martha had intimate relationships with Jesus.

They knew far more than his sayings or doctrines. I can see a mixture of influences on them. Jewish tradition (for a while they considered themselves aok Jews and seemed surprised that Steven was stoned). Jewish sacred writings and tradition, Jesus sayings, the experience of knowing Jesus so well, and the Holy Spirit. I believe to say they just walked around blissed out and received secret knowledge from the Holy Spirit is not realistic. Certainly, the experience of Holy Spirit was a factor. The miracles can be interpreted in less Cecil B/ DeMille magical terms. I believe strongly that they functioned the way humans have always operated.

There is so much unknown. It is doubtful that they taught a uniform message. They went off to different parts of the world. I am certain Peter and James were not always in agreement. Miracles can happen through ordinary actions. Elevating the Holy Spirit as the only factor, excluding their ordinary education and common sense, makes no sense. Christ provided us with so many ways of perceiving.
