This sounds like conversations I had with Evangelicals back in the 70s. The cliche back then was 'Do you have Jesus in your heart' and I would say 'yes' which would get the over drawn out 'Reeeally' and then the fish eye half squint Larry Davidson Curb Your Enthusiasm look would hit with another 'Do you reeeeally have Jesus in your heart'.

Oh and by the way the video with the Rice Crispies popping out of the Bible- totally true not faked at all lol

    dear designs...

I don't know what their private prayer life is like, their public prayer life is reverent.

I can appreciate their reverent "formula" because I haven't, that I can recall, prayed in the manner: "dear Jesus"...Jesus taught us how to pray and so I will listen to Him and address my prayers to my dear heavenly Father, then petition my dear Lord and dear God in Jesus' name. still, a little less formal than Jehovah God.

I guess the evangelicals had your number when they gave you the squint eye back then? o_0

lol I guess they went to the Fred Franz School of Prophecy.

Hey back then I was all onboard with the Michael guy, liked him, talked to him. Now the Evangelicals would say 'but if he knew my Jesus and had him in his heart it would be different today'. What's that kind of an argument called

myelaine, calling me bigoted accomplishes what exactly? It sounds like you can't tolerate my opinion because it is different from yours.

Gee, let me look up bigoted....

Oh, my--this is going to embarress you, so, I won't say it out loud.

Terry- nothing much changes with the 'Believer' they are all convinced their Jesus is the right one. We had a lot of Pentecostals in our Territory and the rising Calvary Chapel group, each claiming the other heretics, crazy time.

A sidebar: Off topic.....have you ever noticed that religous people don't know or use the word CAVALRY (soldiers on horseback) and accidentally substitute the word CALVARY (place of Jesus death.)

I hear it everywhere! There was an old Twilight Zone episode about General Custer and two of the actors were saying "7th Calvary". Most amusing.

A biblically normative relationship with Jesus Christ can be summed up in one word.

    Worship

    dear Vander...

the early church had travelling ministers, deacons and elders. congregations of people who met on certain dates and for the reason of breaking bread. http://www.rosarychurch.net/consecration/justin.html do you think that it is important to maintain this as a form of worship? many young people are moving away from formal worship like this and aren't part of a church family...what do you feel will be the possibility of manifestation of a congregation as the elders pass on and there is no one(?) to fill the pews?.

(you can put this in your "for what it's worth" file: I think that the emergence of mystical spirituality and do your own thing god[ess] conscienceness is putting the organized church on a collision course with modernity that is fortold in the bible...2 thess 2:7)
