Do JWs have a biblically normative relationship with Jesus christ?

    Jesus' words echo down eternity...

Come unto me all who are weak and heavy ladened and I will give you rest.

    That's God talk.

As Jesus wept over Jerusalem He cried out:

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Mat 23:37

    That's not angel talk.

Jesus spoke King James English, I'm beginning to see where the problems might originate. Did you look up DSS 11Q13, it shows the Essene's answer.

Shades- Ask a Rabbi about those passages, particularly Isaiah, I would offer that they are read from a western culture influened by the Bishops such as the NT interpretation shows.

Tammy- For practicing Jews who include the prayer for the Messiah in their daily Blessings there are certain expectations of what the Messiah will do and be. One of the most stricking differences is that the Messiah does all of his tasks in one visit and not two as the Greek NT suggests. Along with the three other standards mentioned earlier it should make for interesting research at least.

Silly designs. I don't need to ask a Rabbi. I only need to ask God. Jeremiah 33:3; Isaiah 44:3; 55:6; 1 Kings 3:9

    Psalm 51:6 Proverbs 2:6 Proverbs 3:6 Proverbs 8:17 Daniel 2:21

Why is it Christians have such a hard time going up to a Jew (whose ancestors wrote all of this stuff) and ask them 'what does it mean'.

2 Corinthians 3: 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Shades, do you realize how inane that statement is in Corinthians. Saint Paul was like every other charlatan that tries to hoodwink people with the 'mysteries' of the universe. Luther, Calvin, Spong, Franz the list is long with guys who tried to pull that excuse.

Well, I have asked you a couple of things ;) Also peeked into a couple of Jewish websites. I DO enjoy hearing a Jewish perspective because it is not 'clouded' in some of the things that 'christianity' has taught and dogmatized. But the reality is that Jews also differ in their beliefs and ex pectations, now and in the past. So who knows the truth, other than the Truth, Himself? If I have questions, I ask Him. Anything else, from anyone, is equally prone to mistakes, misinterpretatin; simple belief or thoughts. Including my own thoughts/beliefs. Now some of those might be more or less reasonable than others... but again, there is no actual authority behind personal interpretation and personal reasoning.

To KNOW something; you must learn from someone who KNOWS... instead of someone who THINKS they know.

    Peace,

    Tammy

When I read that scripture in 2 Corinthians I cried, because it describes my experience perfectly, so no, it isn't just the words of Paul, but my own personal experience.

Carmen's mind was blinded, but the veil was taken away in Christ. For so long when she read the scriptures and talked (argued) with Christians a veil lie on her heart. But then one day she said "Lord, I will listen only to you." and the veil was taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and the Spirit is in her heart giving her true freedom for the first time in her life.
