ummm.... not to get off topic of my own thread, but am I missing something here? I haven't been on in awhile and I'm sensing some hostility. Did something happen during my absence?
Some might say that N.Drew happened and introduced us all to the language of wibble. It is a beautiful language, but not all understand it.
Other than that, I absolutely have no idea what she was posting about - I really don't think it was you, but I guess I could be wrong.
And yes - this fear of persecution is practically Jim Jones level paranoia.

Did you ever hear conversations like the one I used to hear incessantly while in service with older pioneer sisters? The one where they would obsess over whether or not our persecution would include the entire congregation all together in some sort of holding cell and naked?
Someone please tell me it wasn't just my congregation...

Like Jean-Luc, the fears installed in me as a kid were pretty unhealthy. The "pouring cold water on you while they were standing out in the freezing cold" Nazi stories were the worst.
The coming persecution stories are all such a load of shit, IMHO. Scare tactics with no basis in reality. Like the world gives two shits about the JWs.
One of the themes that I heard a few times before leaving was that "materialism was our form of persecution" Hell yeah is my response to that, I'm off to Best Buy to upgrade my plasma screen!

Do you remember the picture in the WTBTS literature of the peaceful valley surrounded by an angry mob with pitchforks and other weapons? And the faces on those people were so hateful.

I did not believe it pictured God's warning because God is love. If that picture was a true representation of what the war of God was going to be like, than there NEEDED to be some people to fill the role of the angry mob. To be in expectation of some people going crazy on them is not love.
