I got a short email reply to the message I sent to the equality commission. But I am sure having access to the document in full would help them and if more people express their concerns it might generate some urgency over the issue.

    Dear Mr XXXXXXXX

Thank you for your email to the Equality and Human Rights Commission Helpline which has been forwarded to me for response. I am looking into the issues you raise in your enquiry and will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Yours sincerely

In a way I think it would be great if some of us here could draw attention to this issue because I imagine that many disabled Jehovah's Witnesses feel pretty rotten about being excluded in this way by their own religious organisation, but they would not dream of making a fuss about it themselves for fear or being labelled a trouble maker or possibly worse.

I feel stupid for asking this since I was raised a witness and should know, but what exactly is a 'delegate'? I know

they will have 1,500 delegates there, but will regular JW's be there as well, or is it just the specially selected 'delegates'

that will be there? I find these requirements appalling really. (sorry for the double spacing, I can't figure out how to change

    it.)

I think it's just a fancy word for Witnesses who have travelled from another country to be there. Suckers might be another term that would be appropriate.

I am overjoyed by this directive from the GB of the WBTS.This comfirms my belief that this (WBTS) Org. is not christan.

Any Org. that would discriminate against handicapped people is heartless, cruel, mericless.

Also this Org. is not to swift when it comes to Math.NOTE:"Members 19 years of age who have been baptized for 20 years

or longer" Remember the over-lapping generation.Well maybe this is the over=lapping DNA

Ah, it doesn't actually say THAT, bobld....

But that does make it sound like they're baptising babies, doesn't it??

    Hey takemehigher :)

here you go...I'm assuming they use the first definition and that these 'delegates' represent their home country at the convention (blech)

    del·e·gate

    1. a person designated to act for or represent another or others; deputy; representative, as in a political convention. 2. (formerly) the representative of a Territory in the U.S. House of Representatives. 3. a member of the lower house of the state legislature of Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia.

    Well strange news!

I did not go to the meeting today but my wife did. And she said the letter on the notice board in our hall has different wording than the one posted on this thread. The one at our hall mentions that brothers with wheel chairs or needing someone to help them should not come. But it does not mention deafness, blindness or obesity.

Where has BluesBrother gone? Can he scan the rest?

Maybe I will go on Thursday and take a picture of the letter with my phone. I don't know what the quality will be like but I could give it a try. Our notice board is in a fairly conspicuous location, otherwise I would just take the letter, copy it elsewhere and return it.
