On Thursday last week it was a horrible day with heavy drizzle and mist so I got the waterproofs on and went for a hike in the very remote hill country above Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders.
Its the town my ancestors came from. Its just a coincidence that I now live just 25 minutes drive from there. In 4 hours I saw 2 other humans - was hoping for none actually.
I want to go back on a nice day to enjoy the views.
Here are the remains of an ancient stone circle called the Stob Stones that I passed on my walk.
Then this afternoon I went back to Roughting Linn that I posted pictures of above - the one near the waterfall.
About a mile further on are these four animal carvings on a rock in a hill called Goat Crag.
Two of the carvings are very simple but one is far more sophisticated. I wonder if the neolitihic artist let their kid do one on the left.
