YOU ARE ALL DEMONIZED

Hey, welcome Badfish. You had me giggling there. Thanks!

Well, I knew there had to be some kind of an explanation to my situation in life. It couldn't possibly be that I was raised with the belief that mythology and ever changing doctrine is truth and that my parents treated me with disdain and snobbery because they possessed some ultra special knowledge I did not. I guess when you're one of "God's Chosen" you no longer have to abide by a code of common decency.

Unfortunately, my JW Father is now the truly "mentally diseased" one, slowly dying of a degenerative and progressive brain disease. This 'demonized' daughter is looking after him now, doing the best she can on her own with very little help. One day, he will no longer be here... and that, is the truth.

So if no religion has the truth, then who has the truth? ... Would you care to explain the real truth to me then?

At best, religions can only point to truth, and at worst they seek to exert control over you. If truth exists then surely it is always present now and everywhere for you to discover, but look within yourself for it rather than accept anyone else's beliefs about what it is. Whatever I can say about truth is just more words, more ideas, more concepts to become lost in. What's present when none of those are clung to? This is for you to find out through your own direct experience.

No, I am not atheist or agnostic. What I am is not bound by any label or description. It's the same for everyone, but people have been deceived or misguided by others, especially religions, into believing ideas about who/what they are and how they relate to everything else. In other words, people have become trapped in conceptual worlds at the expense of seeing and living reality as it is. Even who you believe yourself to be is only a concept. Explore the possibility that who/what you believe yourself to be is in error, which begs the question, "Who/what am I really?" Isn't knowing that the beginning point of everything else? If you don't know what that is then you are ripe for being led astray by others. Whatever anyone else tells you about your true nature isn't enough, no matter how accurate the pointer, so it's up to you to find out what that is, and then whatever "truth" is will be realized directly by you.

There was another thread yesterday, on how to recognize a troll.

And here we are treated to a real-life example...

If I'm demonized, why can't I pull the tablecloth off without removing all of the dishes? I've never been able to pull that trick off.

Badfish, You're funny. But seriously, stop making excuses for your alcoholism and get into treatment.

Every time you raise the glass to your mouth, you are making a decision.

    Your decision, your responsibility.

No scape goats here. Satan doesn't exist.

    @Badfish

Is this the best you can come up with, that we're all demonized? Well I've heard that before so it's nothing new to me, just the same old same old.

Try to have a little love in your heart for others. Is this the way you would want others to treat you? The truth to me is that no person, church, organization etc. on this earth can save us. Only God can because salvation comes from God. That's why I look to God and trust and hope in Him. That when I fall as we all do at one time or another, He is there to lift me up. I believe His love is everlasting and never changes because God never changes. He does not view the outward appearance of a person but he sees the heart. His love never fails. And this is how I have found the peace of God that surpasses all understanding although it took many years to get to this point. I hope you can find the peace of God in your heart.

    Me neither

But I can make a salt shaker disappear. And it does make JW's uncomfortable.

    Badfish,

Get some professional counselling. You weren't properly educated and socialized as a child. You were raised in a cult, which you are struggling to come to terms with. You are alcoholic. If you're the typical JW, they only "counselling" you've ever received has been from janitors pretending to be God's spokesmen that will give you even more damaging "counsel".

Again, get progessional counselling with a psychologist that has experience with treating alcoholism and child abuse.
