Hence, there may be times when a Christian is obligated to bring a matter to the attention of the elders. True, it is illegal in many countries to disclose to unauthorized ones what is found in private records. But if a Christian feels, after prayerful consideration, that he is facing a situation where the law of God required him to report what he knew despite the demands of lesser authorities, then that is a responsibility he accepts before Jehovah. There are times when a Christian must obey God as ruler rather than men.

If it is that serious, uh-h, wouldn't the Holy Spirit take care of informing the elders?

My father was a drinking buddy of Covington. If Covington were so arrogant, he would not have been hanging out with my father, who was a coal miner before coming to Bethel. Was Covington ever formally disfellowshipped? I found it very sad when the two buddies ran into each other at Yankee Stadium that my father pretended he did not know him despite Covington hailing him. My parents said there were very strong rumors that Covington was disfellowshipped. I asked my mom for the gossip later. She said Covington's only problem was that he was such a challenge to Knorr.

My mom said there was very good radio personality for the Witnesses. I can't recall his name. Mohr? The radio station was popular, even among normal people. They shut it down. She said if you were popular among the Witnesses that neither Rutherford nor Knorr could take it. I find this interesting b/c I adore working with people I consider brighter than myself.

Some may remember the 1963 International Assembly at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena where Knorr gave a 'few closing comments' and 4 hours later into the darkness the windbag was still pontificating.

Really! I found Franz far more tedious. I was a kid so I did not care about theology. He focused on spooky things compared to Knorr. I heard that Knorr spoke without any prepared notes. Does anyone know if there are any videos of his speeches? I'm very curious what my adult take would be compared to kids' view.

As I recall, neither Knorr nor Franz had much humility. We were told what to believe b/c it was absolute truth. I don't recall the slightest hint that they were human and could err b/c all humans err.

Band- I saw and heard Fred Franz twice, once at the Peace On Earth International and at the famous 1974 'I Did Not Say 1975 Was The End' world tour when he stopped in LA. Knorr I also heard twice, the first time in 1963 and then at the Famous "Can't Touch It' Special Day Assembly at Anaheim Stadium for which I still have nightmares.
