The religion of Jehovah`s Witnesses is not bible based , their beleifs are not based on what the bible says.

The bible doesnt keep changing its words , it`s basically the same today as it was centuries ago.

What the JW`s taught quoting a bible scripture in years gone by is not the same thing being taught today using the same scripture and no doubt wont be the same thing taught using the same scriptures in the future.

Their beleifs are based on what interpretation the governing body gives scriptures at any given time and every time they re-interpret the scriptures everybody follows suite. The writings of Russell,Rutherford,Knorr,Franz, etc bear testimony to that fact.

The bible hasn`t changed but the teachings of jehovah`s witnesses is in a constant state of change.

So at what stage is the religion of jehovah`s witnesses" The Truth" ?

If what they taught yesteryear is not what they teach today then they have never had the truth.

If what they teach today is the truth then they never had it previously

And one thing you can be certain of what they teach today wont be what they teach in the near future

I would suggest that interpretations of the Bible constantly change which is not surprising given that it is a loose collection of smaller "books" the oldest of which dates back thousands of years. You only have to consult a Biblical lexicon to see that even scholars have many alternative meanings for key words in the Bible - which again is not surprising given that the so-called original writings upon which the Bible is based no longer exist. Even in the English language words can radically change their meanings over a short period of time and once supposedly clear instructions written in English are easily misunderstood by readers.

No they can't....wonder if they'll end up writing a new bible too...new light and all......or maybe the bible will just become redundant...and the old bound watchtowers and awakes will take on new life....I mean...once they are old enough, they may be considered scripture.

"Bible based" is the usual WT double-speak. It simply means we wish to teach something, and we will make a bit of scripture seem to fit, if we can even be arsed to do that.

I think that the Superman stories are based on Jesus Christ's story , -loosely.

I do not think the teachings of the WT are as closely based on the Bible as is Superman, and the WT teachings are not even entertaining.

Well at least SOME of their practices are Bible based. For example, check out this thread:

Judicial Hearing Procedures of Jehovah's Witnesses are Bible Based

'the Bible hasn't changed' smiddy this is where you need to do some homework. Judaism is different from Christianty, within Judaism there are different groups ranging from Ultra Orthodox to Liberal and the same with Christianity, also note that the so-called Christianity of the Gospels in different from the Christianity of Paul.

It is amazing to listen to Judicial Committees, they constantly reference the literature. If there are questions about the bible..."let's see what the literature has to say on that"

When I asked my questions, it was always "lets look up the literature"...why can't we just go to the bible? hmm?

Great new JC on youtube (user/anondude2) when he brought up..."this is what Jesus said"...they explained how "Paul expanded on that" I guess, Paul was new light. Who needs Jesus, he is old light (jaw hit the floor). Also when questioning, the elder said "if you want to talk about the bible, we don't have time for that" That was classic, that is the reality of it.

The WT is bible based when using the bible to keep you down, make you feel stupid, to control, etc. The WT is not about what the bible says, it's just about how it can be used to keep the R&F in line. Peppering the literature with a certain number of over used scriptures (while ignoring the majority of the bible) does not bible based make.

It boils down to, where are your loyalties to This Organization, who cares what the bible says, where are your loyalities to This organization. Seems many of the discussions I have listened to myself, all end with that. Even the WT (reasoning from the scriptures) definition of apostacy is "believes in the bible, but reject Jehovah's organization" Doesn't matter if it proves itself over and over again to be anything BUT Jehovah's organization, it is all about the organization.

People's needs both personally and societally change over time, but, with one constant; fear of death and the profound need to transcend chaos.

The bible is a transformational time capsule swallowed over and over generation by generation. It is absorbed and digested and it emerges, re-emerges and continues to the next generation.

The language is raw metaphor and basic basic and this allows it to be easily interpreted "to fit" whatever needs a person or group might wish.

Study the history of how the bible came to be and the accretions become more and more obvious.

The medicine the mind needs is obtained from the raw materials of previous generation's "solutions" to insoluable problems.

What does it matter if they are Bible based or not?

The contemporary Bible is a human composed book of incomplete "inspired" writings.

No religion, group or organization that bases its beliefs on an incomplete doctrine will be true or whole anyway.
