Is it too much to ask the "CREATOR" in this technological, scientific age to give us a modern update for his intentions?

    Good question dgp, it seems that with all of the confusion and noise of it all; that God never really expected many to make it (refer to my last post) think of all those Muslims, Chinese and Indians and those who pretend to be Christians in Christendom that don't meet the criteria of 1 Thes 1:6-8 of knowing God. It seems nothing short of a miracle would convert those billions!

    I too have wondered about what we know and how we know the “truth” at all?

    Like a computer program, we can get all the updates our hearts desire but if we don't have the original authentic code they do no good.

    At least programs have ways to authenticate them; the “truth” doesn’t.

    So if we can’t confirm the “truth” what makes us think we have it; after all, isn’t truth unconfirmed just theory?

    If we cannot prove the theory of the “truth” won’t updates be useless?

    And if we aren’t getting updates or if were are and they don’t fit (noo-light), does this mean we never had the “truth” to begin with?

    Maybe this is why all the noo-light doesn’t make sense; it doesn’t matter how many pieces you ad to the puzzle if the puzzle has no picture, edges or discernable arrangement; you can’t ad pieces to a puzzle of nothing.

    THIS IS THE BESTEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD

    I'm glad... I hope it grants you peace.

    @TEC - This statement you made contradicts itself. So maybe several millions from every nation and tribe will be saved; when you compare that to the billions alive now the statement still holds that God does intend to kill off most of earths population that he deems wicked or those that don't know him according to 2Thes 1:6 (quoted below)

    First, there are two different things - There are the few who find Christ - his brothers; the bride... but many who are invited into the kingdom (the guests at the wedding).

    The coming of Christ and those who go with him... is a different event and time than the war at Armageddon as well.

    Christ also separates the 'sheep and the goats' after he returns. The sheep are invited into the kingdom, the goats are outside of the kingdom.

    At the war at armageddon (a thousand years later - figurative or literal, I do not know)... those outside the kingdom come against that kingdom and those within it. Those are the ones who are 'devoured by fire', to protect those within the kingdom from them and their attack.

    From your quote - those who make war against a peaceful, mild, meek and loving people... they do NOT know God. Their actions show it. Some show that they do not God, because of the love within them... that bleeds over into their deeds.

    So how do you do that? (listen to Christ) I assume that you mean reading the bible and putting faith in what is said praying etc.

    I do not really mean reading the bible, (though I have read it, and I listen to the words and teachings of Christ over anything else, and I did learn a lot about Christ in this manner) but I do mean praying and listening.

    When I say look to or listen to Christ, I mean just that. If you do not know him in spirit - and that is not for me to say - then look to the words that are recorded by him, with regard to his teaching and example. He is the image of God. Nothing else. For instance, if you want to know if df'ing or shunning is what God wants, then ask who Christ shunned or df'd. If you want to know if you should go to war against another nation in the name of God... then look to see if Christ did that.
    Jesus attested or endorsed the bible in John 17:17 stating "Your word is truth" compare John 4:24, John 1:1.

    Christ is the Word of God.

    So it's either all true, or all false;

    Christ IS all true. The bible not necessarily so. It is not an all or nothing book. It has been comprised over millenia, by different authors, and translated according to various understandings, and it is not all inspired. Some of it is history, or investigation.

    and the holy spirit wouldn't get some of it right and some of it wrong. Jesus referenced the old testament many times in his teaching too. So a true believer doesn't pick and choose what they want to do or beleive from the bible and expect salvation. They either accept it all or they don't. So the scriptures make very plain what Gods intentions are which cannot be diluted or sugar coated.

    I don't really use words like 'true believer' because that implies judging another person. Christ also said 'woe to you scribes' a few times... meaning those who transcribed the scriptures. The book of Revelations warns not to tamper with that book (revelations, not the entire bible)... and if such tampering was not possible, then there would be no need for such a warning.

    My faith is in Christ. I don't pick and choose between what He taught and said. But if what he taught and said is contradicted by something else in the bible, then I know to believe Christ. Because He is the Truth and Word and Image of God.

    So the point stands that most of earths population will be exterminated by Jesus and his angels at the behest of God who has a legal issue with sinners.

    This point does not stand from what I understand.

    What exactly do you mean by this?

    Basically "Only the ones we listen to are different" meant that that the people who tell us what to believe are different than the One who knows the truth.

    Christ is different than the rest of us in that He knows. If we listen to Him we can know also, but on our own, we're no different than one another when it comes to guessing what might be true or not.

    I realize that I was confusing, and I apologize.

    Peace to you,

    Before i comment on a creator not wanting to save everyone, let me say that this is not possible. The story of life on this planet is one of being born, growing up, and dying. It is completely unnatural and broken to think this cycle can be somehow altered. Nothing lives forever, everything dies. Most creatures are the lunch of another and so on. For a lion to eat, countless other creatures down the chain also die to some larger predator. We as humans are just animals, perhaps smarter ones, but we still live by the same rules. We get sick and die like all other creatures.

    @TEC:

    I really do appreciate your commentary and everyone is entitled to their own beliefs; and I know you mean well, but seriously that is some crazy stuff your talking and it makes no sense :) God has always given specific instructions, which have always been in some written form; 10 commandments, Mosiac Law etc. And the last time I checked the only place you can find Jesus words is...wait for it...wait for it...the bible!

    It would be unreasonable to conclude that God would not have what he expects written for all to see, or he would have no legal basis to hold anyone accountable because no actions would be wrong; or would change according to each individual. How would you feel if your neighbor believed murder was ok and killed your child, and there was no standard or law to codemn that belief? Proposterous right?

    So well just have to agree to disagree on the earths population being killed off; but seriosly the evidence on hand says other than what you've stated so the point does stand.
