Yup, Tim Horton was a career player, but none of us heard of him till after his demise.
Let's not make a legend out of someone who was, albeit a good hockey player, just b/c he made it to the NHL, but he was by no definition exceptional.

Love Tim Horton's. Go to the one in Geneva, NY every morning. Was in Buffalo a few years back. The drive thru line stretched into the road. They had the police directing traffic around it on Transit Rd. Who'd ever thought those crafty Canandians could make good coffee. Probably some master plan on getting us hooked & then taking over the country. I really don't care as long as the coffee keeps flowing.
Talesin, Maybe Tim Horton isn't from your era...1952 is a long time ago! Still, when you look at the average duration of a career in today's hockey, 22 years is exceptional! He is in the NHL Hall of fame....that defines a legend to me.
Most famous hockey players are going to draw a blank stare from Americans.
We have "roll up the rim" prizes like free coffee/donuts which will stretch your dollar. Be careful when devouring to many donuts you will gain weight.
My COBOE brother told me in "all confidence" that the wife of a former CO had won one of the SUVs in the roll up the rim contest...I guess when you go to Timmies everyday you have more chances to win...and this is a "WT approved" way of winning a prize.
WT approved?
NVR ... come on,, did he win any awards? no. Let's talk Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Derek Sanderson, even Stanfield ... nope, Tim Horton had no fame (and yes, that is my 'era' of hockey) ... he was mediocre in my opinion,, but, opinions are like you-know-what,, and I respect yours,,, we can agree to disagree!
