My son will be graduating from High School at the same time as the Saturday Morning session. We will have to be there at 9, the ceremony starts at 10, and doesn't finish til Noon. I have been to previous graduation ceremonies at this school, and have heard mutterings from some parents and relatives of kids that "it takes too long" etc. It consists of processional, speeches by the Head of School, Valedictorian, Salutatorian, awards of Scholarships, probably a guest speaker,and the reading of the names.
But, I guarantee you with all sincerity, backed by my next year's salary, that the three hours between 9 and 12 and will fly by with the speed of a thousand African swallows carrying coconuts to Great Britain compared to the one hour of time standing still, nay, time running backwards!, for my relatives and friends that will be sitting through an effing 1 hour symposium on "Guarding your Heart against Works of the Flesh", followed by another effing 30 minute snooze fest, capped off with the 12 suckers (or human sacrifices, depending on your viewpoint) that will be waddling toward the plastic bathtub wearing their whitest of white T-shirts and their modestest of modest swimming attire.
Amazing how context and content make all the difference in the perception of time. If Einstein had been able to sit and observe one of the modern day assemblies, he would have had to throw all of his notes in the trash, and reached for the schnapps.

Maybe the release on saturday will be a brochure for very young children?

Another "soft" convention. This guilt stuff doesn't seem to work as much as explaining in detail how Jehovah will soon, very soon, slaughter billions of people because they didn't join the corporation. That is the kind of fear that keeps people in cultish religions. This guilt trip stuff only works so long.
I think the young guys and girls will be wondering the halls with something other than a guilty heart on their mind.
