They missed a line in the program...
SUNDAY AFTERNOON
1:40 Drama:What IsTrue Love?
(Proverbs 22:3; 1 John 4:8)
2:44 Mass exodus from stadium - " lets beat the traffic jam, get home & chill out. I've had enough sitting around for 3 days & the kids are bored brainless. Nobody will notice we are gone , anyway. Enough so called "spiritual food" for one weekend - everybody is hungry. There's a MacDonalds just before the motorway - if we get away sharp , we'll get there before all the other JWs who leave early. Mine is a Big Mac extra large. Beats sitting around listening to the final talk and the prayer that drags on for ages and hanging around in the car park for an hour. And anyway - if I have to speak again to Sister Smug & Bro Self Righteous once more....".
2:45 Song No. 36 and Announcements

Sounds like a real yawner to me. If I was still going to meetings and the like I would enjoy some great ZZZZZZZ's

Oh man, this is going to be a painful one to sit through this year just by reading the titles of those talks. For sincere JWs this is going to be one gigantic guilt-trip. It isn't enough that you aren't doing anything bad, but now you have to question your "heart". Ugh
This reminds me, I have a friend who always gets wound up by these assemblies. Without fail, he'll call me up after the convention and tell me how he threw out a DVD or video game or whatever the talks told him to do. That will last for a couple months then he'll go right back to doing whatever he was doing before. I wonder how long the effect from this new convention program will last?

Yeah, I sure miss some of the stuff I threw away...I think I realized there was just some stuff I wasn't going to part with. Guess that was my spiritual downfall. After a prolonged period of self-control, even seeing Leia in 'Return of the Jedi' was more than I could handle, as I normally didn't look at her like that...and that was usually the end of that...
Anyway, the theme for Saturday is a quote of Jesus' words, so...that could count as mentioning Jesus on the program...right? But one would expect that Jesus, who "knew what was in man" and could discern hearts, would figure much more prominently, at least one talk in that regard. I mean, come on!
As usual, I would expect the final talk to include more of the "faithful slave" recounting its glorious history and patting itself on the back for how God has used them to refine his people, etc., etc. I've noticed on practically all assembly/convention programs I've been to since waking up fully that the final talk mentions the "faithful slave" several times. Why the final talk? I wondered. Because that's when everyone is the most mentally tired and thus vulnerable to suggestion. Or in the unlikely event that you're not tired (as you exerted yourself in the ministry all week before coming to the program), the final thoughts you will hear are all about the "slave class". What you take away most will presumably be the last things you hear on the program.
It's no wonder I remembered leaving and feeling like I'd been reprogrammed. Hypnotic suggestion, if you ask me.

"Guilt trip yo-yo", I like that phrase! Describes my friend exactly. I feel sorry for people like that, but unfortunately there's not much you can do for them unless they decide on their own to get off the guilt trip express the WTS puts people on.
I copied and pasted a few of the talk titles that sound particularly guilt trip inducing:
- Do You Have a Balanced View of Yourself?
- Symposium: Beware of Dangerous Heart Conditions!
“Cunning of Heart” (Proverbs 7:10)
“Double Heart” (Psalm12:2)
“Halfhearted” (Psalm 119:113)
“In Want of Heart” (Proverbs 7:7; 10:21) - Avoid Testing God in Your Heart
No obvious references to Facebook, porn, or vampire movies in any of the talk titles but I'm sure they will slip them in somewhere.
