I've just been watching a programme on the Vikings, broadcast a few days ago, but I recorded it. Suddenly, there I was watching a woman reading from an ancient book about Norse gods. mjolnir, she said translates as indicating great power, smashing, crushing power, and she went on to describe how all the giants we re afraid of Thor and his hammer with which he crushed their skulls.
Oh yes! I thought, with Thor on our side who can stand against us?

Cedars has given in! His silence speaks volumes!
He knows that when it comes to Thor, no wise man stands against him!
It's OK, Cedars. We're not laughing. Truly. We understand. Welcome to the gathering of the Followers of Thor!

What?! Yesterday was Thor's Day? Oops, it looks like it completely slipped my mind!
Still, it's good to see that so many attended the celebration even without me.
Let's see, there was (1) Jadeen.... (2) Chariklo.... (3) elderelite, of course, and...... er..... darthfader making it an impressive 4 worshippers at this week's celebration.
Oh well, at least this latest Thor's Day celebration was AS well-attended as a typical dog's birthday party!!
That's quite impressive considering that, er... thousands of people visit this forum every day. I guess.
But don't panic folks - the Thor's Day thread is alive and well. It isn't dying at all, honest!!!

Bless you Cedars, I don't think Thor is a god who requires meetings and worship as JW's know it. The way I see it, Thor just is.
He doesn't need us. He likes us! All the old stories tell of his liking for mankind. nowhere is he obsesed by thoughts of sin. He enjoys our company and he'll fight for all who are loyal to him.
That's my kind of god, and we remember and celebrate him wherever we are, and here if we happen to be around.
Here, have one on me, Cedars!

lol Chariklo - if Thor doesn't need you to venerate him, then why do YOU need to venerate him?!

Cedars, you are taking a distinctly "watchtower view" here. Thats rather much how they reason on birthdays. The fact is, Thor dosent need our veneration nor do we need to venerate him in the general sense of the word.
No, much like a birthday is a day to remeber the past year and look forward, a day for friends to be appreciative that have this person in thier life, we use Thursday, that is Thorday, to remember the thunder because we love him and appreciate him and all he does for us.
But as a Thorineer you knew all that, you just wanted to give me a chance to explain it! Well done, cedars. Well done.
