What does your mother think?
Is she mentally able to make decisions about how to proceed?
If you take action, will she back you up or "God's organization"?
Thanks for asking :) The case is comming along. Mom has dementia and big medical expenses. The wheels of justice do turn slowly, but Candace Conti's win and publicity is helping, in that law enforcement is beginning to realize Jehovah's Witnesses are not another quaint religious group like the Amish.
I have to be careful what we post here. It is monitored by WTBTS. We do not want to tip our hand.

I KNOW OF 4 CASES LIKE THIS IN MY JW LIFE AND I AM JUST ONE PERSON
The Watchtower gets the cult indoctrinatedold folks to will their estates and then the family of 'normal' world-lings find out they have been cheated out of their inheritance or left a legal token $1.00
This issue enrages me as much as male supremacy and child abuse. They need their hand slapped hard. Fair dealing from the start means fewer problems later. No one seems to know how to act in an arms length normal transaction. There is no respect for process. Very old story that remains tragic.
I would contact any organization that protects older people financially in your state. Hopefully, your state has lawyers that do pro bono work (most firms do some pro bono). You need a lawyer to bring the secular laws to bear on the WTS. It is the only thing they understand.

Thanks !
Remember everyone the Watchtower is a tax free religious entity and fabulously wealthy.
Update:
Well, mom's expenses have exceeded the amount I can PROVE Watchtower owes her.
The treasurers office REFUSED to put anything in writing and would not TAKE calls. They only called back at a random time to make a VERBAL statement they WILL NOT send ANY money because She had "forgiven the loan"...verbally. They refused to provide any documentation to that effect, and said "just put her on government assitance"!!!!!!!
I was amazed at how that rolled off the Bethelites tongue...like he says that every day.
We consulted with two attorneys. Both said whatever we win in court would simply be claimed by the state, and we would be stuck with legal expenses...and it might disrupt the government assistance. However, once she has died and the state comes looking to the estate for $$ for medical costs, to sick the STATE on WTBT$. They state has the resources to lein WTBT$ and we will not be out of pocket.
Moral of the Story for elderly- DO NOT LOAN MONEY or Make Conditional gifts TO WATCHTOWER...they will consider it "Corban".
After all they do say in the Feb. Awake "God helps those who help themselves" and they do.. "help themselves".
