My daughter spent several years at Bethel here in the Netherlands.
She's very talented, but spent years cleaning up after others. She was good enough to clean rooms, sweep the floors, etc, etc.

When I asked her why she said:"I'm doing it for Jehovah".
In these years spent there she learned NOTHING.

    Questions for Yo Yo,

You said that you talked to a couple of the web developers at Bethel. You also stated that they had trouble getting a sign off from senior management. Now, with this in mind, how were you able to talk to them and find this out? Do you work at Bethel or are you well connected with Bethalites. It seems to me that these are the only ways you could get the information you described. Given that you are well connected, what is your purpose coming here with multiple accounts? To stir up trouble, I presume.

My next question is this: it they are so over worked and are learning as they go, why did they take the considerable time necessary to develope a special search function to screen out certain information? Why didn't they use a standard search function that they could buy off the shelf, one that searches and finds information on any word that is entered?

Final observation: you often post supposedly innocent questions. Their purpose is not to enlighten but to disrupt those who have open discussion here. Your very quick defense of an indefensible, dishonest practice at the offical website is telling.

    YoYo:

I don't know much about the web. But I'm sure Kent could easily put their whole CD-ROM on the internet.

    larc,
    I searched watchtower.org for "1914".
    Found this:
    http://www.watchtower.org/library/lmn/article_11.htm

    Education for Entering Paradise
Would you like to live in Paradise? If your answer is 'Yes,' you will be thrilled to know that when Jesus spoke of today's troubled system and "the sign" of its approaching destruction, he added, "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur." Some, at least, of the generation that saw the "beginning of pangs of distress" in 1914 will live to see Paradise restored on earth. (Matthew 24:3-8, 34) However, it is a sad fact that most people today are on the broad road that leads to destruction. (Matthew 7:13, 14) There is little time left for them to change. How thankful you can be that Jehovah has provided warning in time! Because Jehovah wants you to have life, he will help you to take the right steps.—2 Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 18:23.

Your urgent need now is accurate knowledge. (1 Timothy 2:4; John 17:3) Where can you get this? Can it be found in just any religion? Some people say all religions lead to the same goal, just as all paths on a mountain lead to the summit. How mistaken they are! In order to find the right path, mountaineers use maps, and they hire guides. Likewise, there is only the one religion of truth that will lead to everlasting life, and guidance is needed to find it.—Acts 8:26-31.

Seems the website is still promoting the pre-1995 generation idea.

    Well, howdy thinker!

Long time no see words! I would thing (no pun intended) that part of the reason you could search and find what the WTBTS used to teach about 1914 was that they're undermanned to make all the doctrinal changes and deletions in a website so that the changes can't be found.

Sorta what yoyo was saying, don'tcha think? Who has time to add more searching capabilities when so much time is spent covering changes?

Remember in Orwell's 1984, the main character's job was to remake statements to all history books, etc., to fit the ever-evolving "truths" that kept changing? There was a whole group and that's all they did.....made changes so no-one would know.

He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future. I'm pretty sure that's how that quote went - and it sums up the WTBTS's literary policy nicely - control.

    Hi waiting,
I've been here all along. Just not very "vocal" about it.

    Thinker,

That is interesting. When I did a search on the word, generation, nothing showed, but on a related word, 1914, you found it. I guess their attempt to block out certain information has not been perfected yet.
