It's amazing that the WTS hides behind the CLERGY-penitent law in so many states. Even in the 9-15-12 WT the WTS says all religion is soon to be oblierated. Where does the WTS say the elders are clergy? Where does the bible, for that matter.

BizzyBee THANK YOU for posting this file!!! This moring I was trying to search google for a penal codes in LA regarding reporting child sexual about the reporting of it.

It seems to me with the recent letter the WTS sent out to all Elders regarding protocal of handling such matters, encouraging them to go to the WTS first instead of the police, is an infrigment and violation of human rights and the law.

Has anyone brought this attention to the Canadian Media yet?

I wrote to cbc vacouver news, an hour ago.

I might write to other media outlets tomorrow if I have more time. $28million judgement is a big deal, I only hope more media picks up this story. It's important that media knows that jws who may be preaching at the public's door may be registered pedophiles or known pedophiles only to church leaders which pose danger to not only church members but also the public.

the WT lawyer said, "even if received today, that confession by Kendrick would be privileged"

No wonder he lost the case so miserably! I am not sure what planet he's from(oh yeh, he's from Watchtower planet) but as far as I know from my extensive research,

    1. The confession of Child sexual abuse is not protected by Ecclesiastical Privilege.

    2. Even if it was, once you pass the information to another person(such as reporting it to the Branch), you loose the privillege.

Someone can correct me if I am incorrect on these.

The WT may ended up taking the case to the Suprem Court for interpretaion of the law at cost of huge publicity. Either way it's huge blow on them.

The msn article got posted on one of the JW Facebook pages and you can already see some great head-in-the-sand thinking. My particular favorite is this shining example of a loving member of Jehovah's congregation (not to mention grammar):

"It's interesting that she's an ex-witness" (from the FB quotes; final one shown)

This kind of statement statement makes me queasy. The person who blindly calls the plaintiff a liar is just an idiot, but the last comment is insidious. She is sowing a subtle seed of prejudice. It's freaky and as evil as the Queen from Snow White or Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians.

NEVER let those people on FB get you riled up. Ridiculous comments like that deserve zero attention - they make complete asses of themselves on their own.
