The Mosiac law was a "Tutor leading to Christ"in that it showed man, even when he had it spelled out to him what to do, it wasnt in his abilities to follow it to the extent that he could achieve his own salvation.
The Christ therefore, freed us from the burden of the law, died in our place, and established salvation based on Gods grace rather than our own proven failed abilities to achieve salvation by works.
The JWs however, have rejected the Christ by rejecting his grace, hense they have to achieve salvation by works, whilst they have admitted the abolishion of the Mosiac law, they have created their own law, and claimed it was from God, whereas it is doctrines of men.
Whilst they have decided to use much of the Mosiac Law in their new law, they have added much too it.
Stoning to death is no longer allowed in this secular world, so instead the Witnesses employ a figurative form of capital punishment where you are as dead to the rest of the religion, and you are promised real death when God executes his judgement. It is called disfellowshipping and shunning.
Some laws of this new Jehovoric Law and that wernt in the Mosaic law and that have the death sentence include
Smoking
Communicating with ex JWs, (though this could be construed as communicating with the dead so is the same as the Mosiac law),
Not acknowledging the God given sovereignty the GB has over the flock or questioning their infallibility.
Much of the death laws of the Mosiac law are still retained by the JWs, such as Adultery and Astrology.
The Jehovoric Law has many more minor laws though that were not in the Mosiac Law
These forbid:-
Watching James Bond films
Being with members of the opposite sex
Masterbating
Having sex with your spouse in a way that goes beyond the missionary position
Doing the twist
Watching TV soap operas
Celebrating Birthdays
Playing with Sparlock toys
Having friends outside the org, (though this was part of the Mosiac Law also to be seperate from the Nations).
Etc Etc
The most important part of the Jehovoric Law regarding the earning of salvation however, is the field service, the more you do, the more chance you have of being able to earn everlasting life independant of Jesus sacrifice, for another of the Jehovoric laws is that once a year, you must demonstrate to Jesus what you think of his "Grace", by rejecting the emblems of his New Covernant for the forgiveness of sins, you will stick to your salvation bt works thank you very much.

The Mosaic law came directly from God, and was a covenant between physical Israel and Jehovah. Jesus fullfilled that law, and so ended it.
MP:
Thats not true, if he did end it show which scriptures say that . At no stage did he say he ENDED the laws. In fact his own disciples believed the law was still in effect many years later when they argued that everyone including gentiles needed to be circumcised. For some untold reason, a nobody told them to shut up and ignored them. If the law was terminated by jesus, he never gave a replacement and never told his disciples. Im sorry DESTROY has similar connotations to END and since he said he didnt DESTROY or END them, that statement is wrong. According to Jesus the laws are still valid. This end of the law thing is another thing xians made up. Laws are never fulfilled, they have an end date and thats. We today fulfill th law of our country a;; the time. Ive never robbed a bank , killed anone and so on, those laws are not cancelled. That logic makes no sense.
MAT 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Religion and the gospel are exact opposites.
ML according to religion - STOP SINNING. Sin is a wrong deed.
ML according to the gospel - We are all sinful. Sin is all dysfunction, aberration and corruption.
None of us measure up. We cannot earn, deserve or pay for salvation, a right standing, or a clean standing. These are free gifts by unmerited favour, secured by a ransom price paid.

This is an interesting thread. I have not even thought about these things for years. I will add that if you are not a jew, the Mosaic does not apply to you anyway. As has been pointed out by NC, the law was between physical Israel and Jehovah. The dictionary defines fulfilled as "to bring to an end:finish or complete."

I'm not going to play word games with you. I explained that according to JW's the law was fullfilled. In that sense, it was ended in that xtians were not under obligation to it. Call it what you like, xtians are not under the law, and for them, it did end in that way. Now if you want to continue to stone people and shun shellfish, that's fine with me. I was explaining what JW's believe, because that is what was asked. I am not going to debate the validity of their beliefs, or stupid words that change nothing, because I think the entire thing is bullshit anyway. And I certainly don't care if 'end' or 'fullfiled' or if Christians made this up or that up, because the whole freaking thing is made up.

One example that is particularly apropos at present, of the WT's selective use of the Mosaic law is the "two witness" rule, I may be wrong, but such an idea is not clearly expounded as practice for christians in the N.T
This O.T law and its application by the WT has caused no end of suffering.

Of course the whole "The Law was a burden because no one could keep it perfectly" - "The Law was a tutor leading to Christ" thing was entirely the theology of Paul. Jesus of the Bible never even hinted that the Law would be outmoded someday and in fact stated:
"...anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven."

You need two witnesses, but you don't hold your JC at the city's gate. They love to pick and choose. Just be thankful that they didn't pick up tithing like most christian churches did. If they had many Dubs would be poorer than they are now.

The phrase translated "you must not make Tattoo markings" in the N(asty) W(easel ) T(ravesty) Babble actually says "you must not make "CUTTING MARKS""
The Canaanite priests slashed their bodies as part of their rituals. The word Tattoo is of Maori origin. Had their culture been revealed to Moses?
No Egyptian art shows tattooed men or women - does anybody know a source showing tattooed Babylonians or Greeks? None of the Cannaanites portrayed in Egyptian art have tattoos either as far as I can find - you would think if this were so widespread, we could find evidence from the pictures of the time...
This is probably reflects hatred by the Gibbering Buddies of body art in any form.
They would prolly put metal detectors at the Kingdumb Hell to detect illicit body piercings.
