What if in their mind they strongly believe this is Jehovahs[s Org.
They look forword to life forever on a new earth.And if the FDS/GB
sin's God will correct it.No one will come between them and paradise.
They are happy with their lot in life and God's Org.
Every human on Earth only has 24 hours in their day.
If they are doing a worthless thing it pushes out the worthwhile alternate choices!
A person who is given realistic choices based on true facts decide for themselves. But, as a part of a Group that squashes independant thinking?
Groups exercising strong CONTROL who actively seek to swallow up as many humans as possible pose a Clear and Present Danger.
The Watchtower Society is one such group.
The danger is in convincing people to waste their mind, their life, their opportunity to live in the real world and enjoy this brief existence. The trade off
hinges on wholly investing everything (including their own physical life or the life of their children) on nothing more than a PROMISE.
If you find yourself in a marriage as a member of a Controlling Group you are not allowed to break free in thought. Solidarity with group think is the be-all and end-all.
Once you "awaken" in such a group YOU are the enemy!
Anti-bodies will surround and isolate you and expel you or imprison your freedom to speak out by doctrinal threats.
Our focus of attention must be laser-like on the single most important target for this discussion!
The focus is not on how the believing mate is wearing rainbow-colored glasses.
The focus is on REALITY being denied the "awakened" mate and the children (if any) by substitution of a FAKE reality.
It is nothing short of a CRIME against HUMANITY!
To be denied a right to choose is denial of human rights.
The choice is denied when the only "reality" presented or allowed is a trumped-up phony story of Paradise vs this "wicked system of things soon to be destroyed at Armageddon.)
Denial of higher education, medical treatment, charitable acts, social norms, etc. is denial of LIFE ITSELF!
No father or mother can afford to allow their own children to be distorted into weirdo robot door-knockers whose religous faith is a series of "We can't celebrate...this..that..or anything!"

When I woke up and started questioning my husband on things, he pulled the headship card. He was cruel and callous. I asked that he please show some love and his response was one that woke me up for good. He said "You want me to show love, that is what the apostates are always wanting." I knew I no longer belonged his side.

I may be generalizing a bit, but, it is my considered opinion that WOMEN take the religion more seriously than the men. For them it is a power trip; a chance to be better and smarter than everybody AND to control their wife and family through HEADSHIP.
When the wife "wakes up" and really sees the nasty swindle taking place on herself and her kids---that is when righteous indignation in protecting their
innocence and their future rouses her into the only true Super heroes on this planet: Those who speak truth to Authority fearlessly!!
I relate to this I'm stuck in the situation for now and have advanced to the stage already that tells me to fight for my rights and bow to no-one! My size and mental demeanor will make an elders tie an easy target to whip him around and throw him to the ground if they want to go toe to toe with me. I'm to the point where I couldn't care less if I was DF'd or not. By the way the throw down will happen without a second witness so no worries. Great post!

I live in a life of glee full ignorance, knowledge is emotionally expensive. My expectations are low, my spouse's are low as mine, we are madly in love with Jesus. The family wish we took things more seriously, we are who we are!
That movie is one oldie I never saw but my parents certainly did. Now I want to watch it !!

Two years of tip-toeing, seed planting, and keeping my elder hat saved my marriage and got us all out relatively unscathed.
It's not for everyone, but it's a path that can be tried FIRST, and then when the awakened partner can't take it anymore....
