  Terry-Have you been reading my mind again? I am stuck with an unthinker and do hide my web viewing, and have refrained from talking to my kids, like a coward. You have made me realize that I am a WEINIE!

  I have been trying to frame out a way to talk to my kids...something more neutral...this has been the weinie way out. I will definitely be doing more critical thinking exercises with my family.

  The pledging of allegiance line was great by the way, and so very true, yet everyone at the KH would be shocked to hear such a line.

  I am NOT GUILTY, so I will not act that way anymore!

  Intimidation only works if you accept your inferiority.

  A truth seeker and honest inquirer is inferior to nobody.

  Only a Jerk seeks to intimidate a distressed mother.

  These "shepherds" are more like storm troopers on Crystal Nacht.

  It is a magnificent moment in your life when you rise above your situation and speak out for your own freedom to think.

  "Am I free to think?" is the key question.

  If the answer you get is "NO" you are being intimidated for a huge reason: Somebody fears the light an honest question might shed.

  Hang in there and get your mind straight on who is who and what is what.

  We are all behind you one hundred per cent.

  I talked to one of my kids a little while ago. We talked about the new sex abuse cases Barb Anderson just informed us about. I asked if it seem proper that JW's would hide these things from people. My child was vehement that this was wrong. I talked to the child about Sparlock, and how JW's act like playing with a toy is so much worse than a child molester is. My child thought it was ridiculous that Sparlock would be so much worse than a child molester is to the WTBTS. We also talked about the violence in nature, the way spiders wrap up their prey and suck there blood out over a period of days. My child asked if maybe all this occured because of Adam and Eve's sin. I reminder my child of our recent visit to a wonderful dinosaur exhibit, and how we learned they ate each other, and they lived long before Adam/Eve did. My child said, "Oh yeah, that's right, it couldn't have been Adam & Eve then."

  I'm trying to implement the courage mentioned by Terry, thank you, by the way!

  That was me. I wish I'd known then what I know now.

  I handled things completely wrong. I tried to express my discoveries and doubts with my born-in JW wife and not-too-surprisingly she didn't want to hear any of it. We drifted farther and farther apart as I continued to live a life pretending to believe things I didn't.

  Using the rational mind is the most honest and excellent way to do it, in my opinion, PTN.

  I had almost the same conversation with a very religious lady I had worked with. I called her the "Church Lady" like on Saturday Night Live.

  She said that Death only entered the world because of Adam and Eve.

  I asked her about the Dinosaurs!

  She got flustered and--at first--claimed Dinosaurs were AFTER Adam and Eve.

  I asked her why she apparently knew something that no Professor in any University knew.

  She then switched her answer.

  Dinosaurs were a creation of Satan!

  I asked her: "So, there were TWO creators, then, and Satan's creation preceded God?"

  So, finally, she got rational about it. She replied.

  God put Dinosaurs on Earth to test our faith!

  "Who's Faith?" I asked. "They were BEFORE humans by billions of years!"

  She stopped speaking to me!

  Good for you Terry! My hubby agrees with me on virtually every topic brought up regarding WT teachings, or he doesn't know the anwer, but, he keeps clinging to it. He is very much an approval hound and desperately wants people to like him, and they do, for the most part. He wants to believe whatever they say. He is a 3rd generation born-in and never learned to think for himself, he has always needed someone to tell him what to do.

  I once told my kids, when we were on a plane, waiting for take-off, to look around for the exits and really pay attention to how the flight attendants were explaining how to operate the doors in an emergency and NOT wait for their father to help them, jump over him to get out, as he would just sit there waiting for someone to tell him it was time to exit. I told him everyone who was in charge could be dead, and they needed to think for themselves. My hubby just glared at me, but he knew it was the truth.

  Been there done that.

  I was the elder with the awakening and my spouse did not want to hear. A very very painful process.

  The end result is that we divorced and I moved on.

  Those considering divorce as an option, keep in mind that it is not an easy option, nor is it a cheap option.

  The age old question - "why is a divorce so expense?" The answer is - "because it is worth it!"
