I'm really curious about the "generation" talk. How did that go down? All we could get out of my brother is that there is "new light"

earthfire: i could be wrong, i haven't been in a hall since i want to say the memorial of maybe 06 or 07. the generation thing as i understand it goes...

    1. a generation is made up of people from many age ranges

    2. the generation therefore makes up people from all ages alive when those of the 1914 years were alive.

    3. this then means that anyone born during the time that the annointed are alive, also make up that generation.

    4. so essentially, say you were born in 1900 and baptized in 1914 and died in 1988. anyone born before your death is part of your generation.

i THINK that's how it goes. it's convoluted and moronic so i think i'm on the right track. someone correct me because i'm probably wrong

Omg! That is a much bigger change than I thought. With that thinking they could keep this going for a while. Damn it.

What does this explanation mean to

us? Although we cannot measure the exact

length of “this generation,” we do well to

keep in mind several things about the word

“generation”: It usually refers to people of

varying ages whose lives overlap during a

particular time period; it is not excessively

long; and it has an end. (Ex. 1:6) How, then,

are we to understand Jesus’ words about

“this generation”? He evidently meant that

the lives of the anointed who were on hand

when the sign began to become evident in

1914 would overlap with the lives of other

anointed ones who would see the start of

the great tribulation. That generation had a

beginning, and it surely will have an end.

Hi Earthfire. Welcome to the forum.

All we could get out of my brother is that there is "new light"

That sounds like he doesn't really want to get into explaining it. That is a very good reason why you want him to explain it to you.

    Be sincere.

Don't let on you know what it is. Wait until he lies about it, then get him to look up that mag and read it to you and explain it.

Play dumb. Don't do his thinking for him.

Don't express an opinion except to keep him honest. Even then, keep him honest through questioning. Shut up except to make him talk or feel guilty for avoiding the subject.

Try to turn him into another fader without scaring him off.

    Good luck

    Chris

Well rather I was pioneering and even coming here to convert all of the wicked apostates... when all of a sudden I was at a meeting it was November 2010 and one article just said ¨Are you doing enough¨? I said Yes god damn it! I AM! In fact my arse is wore out by it. I quit going right then. I started reading here more with an open mind. My login name used to be Bane but I think I was banned as I couldn´t login anymore so I created this new name. I was an ass when I scripturized here before so first thing I did was apologize to everyone here. I had always had a friend who was like a second mother to me but never a witness in my life so I asked her to send me the book Crisis of Conscience. She did. But before then I read a PDF of it thanks to IssacAustin. Blew me away. When the book came I read that too. Started REALLY studying the bible with my wife. Read all of John together. I still think witnesses are right about the Trinity after that read. Now we are reading Romans. Came across Romans 10:2 where I ALWAYS used to use it against other religions as per how I was taught by the society. Now for the first time reading it in context it is DEFINITELY talking about the jews! MIND BLOWN! So my second mother friend is sending me In Search of Christian Freedom in the mail. Cannot wait to see that one! A reviewer on Amazon says that Franz takes off the gloves with this one.

None of my friends have ever visited me here. One day when I am more comfortable I will tell my whole story. I have been typing it for a year now.

Mine was fairly easy. My husband and I were basically at the same mental point of leaving. But being a brother he had more hoops to jump through to fade. We had no financial ties with any jw family or jws in general. We had eased off already any social contacts knowing there can be no real friendship at the KH, it is all conditional, made new friends with non-jw relatives and friends and renewed old friendships. The first year we got obligatory calls from the elders and unscheduled elder visits. We never let them in, kept them on the doorstep, and never discussed any doctrinally with them or any other jws. We were careful about talking to just one ex-jw in our area, not put anything in writing.
