I don't think good little Jewish girls like me can be anointed or inspired by holy spirit.

    lol heathen.

out of curiosity, how long did the entire process take? from the time you were first questioned, until you bounced out?

i'm wondering because it would seem that there might be somethig that would break anyone instantly. maybe instantly isn't the right word, bt there's something that would get to all of us and would make us all question our faith.

for you it was the absurdity of the elders reproving you for someone else's dream

for me, i'd say it was how the others in the congregations acted when i found out that underneath the gung ho pioneering facade there was plenty of drugs and sex and nderage drinking to make worldly teens go 'dayum'!

There is a HUGE list of crazy things I have known JWs to be Reproved for. It starts with some dumb thing some bozo elder has a problem with. When the JW says it is none of his business..it can escalate to "causing Divisions", "Walking Disorderly" or "Loose Conduct".

    1. Being seen with worldly person of opposite sex. Eating lunch, having coffee, Riding Bikes etc.

    2. Making an Elder the butt of joke. - "speaking abusively of glorious ones" (Worth it)

    3. Sister not wearing elders approved garb. No Nylons, skirt to short, boobs to big, denim skirt etc etc ect.

    4. Brother not having current "approved hairstyle",mustach, sideburns, too short, too long , etc, etc, etc,

    5. Farting- yes Farting!!

    6. Being late- yes - "God is a god of order"

    7. Being funny- "Not serious minded".

    8. Mention of getting a little "buzzed" while on vacation.

    9. Fill in the blank:______________

The worst is "Private reproof" sometimes the publisher has no idea this is recorded in files and follows them in a letter from congregation to congregation for years. No use of the hall for Weddings, no parts on the stage, no appeal, no pesky forms to send back to Bethel, no giving of prayers, and no need to discuss brother with C.O. for appointment untill he is "off restrictions" for a few years. Keeps some guys from being considered as servants or Elders for YEARS...and they have no idea of why. Very effective for keeping boat rockers in check.

You know, I was very naive. I was a regular pioneer from the time I was 14 until I left at 18. I was never invited to the parties where everyone else got in trouble. I did some things, like make out with my boyfriend at not at homes, but mostly I was pretty clean. When I was reproved, I was very upset and felt so guilty for being stubborn and prideful in the jc, but a week later I realized that I had the right to stand up for myself. I wanted to leave in good standing so my parents wouldn't feel the need to shun me, so I worked hard for 3 months to regain my privileges. As soon as the PO told me I was done, I commented at the meeting to show my parents that I could and never went back. It took another 6 years to really be mentally free, but the physical freedom was sweet all on its own.

I was reproved (privately) because a friend of mine wrote in her diary that she had a dream about me getting drunk and giving a guy she liked a lap dance. She said in the diary it was a dream, she told the elders it was a dream, her mother agreed that we had not spent any time together in months, and it was obvious that I was shocked when they asked me about it. Yet, they reproved me because I didn't seem "repentant" in my responses to their questions. In other words, I had the nerve to stand up for myself when falsely accused.

Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winna!

That's got to be the DUMMEST (sic) THING I've EVER HEARD, BAR NADA! Being punished for another person's subconscious thoughts? And I thought Jesus' version of mind-control about adultery was a tad nutsie! Wow.... That's into "Minority Report" territory; no, more like Salem Witch Trial territory, only even stoopider (sic)! As if you'd even KNOW how to do a lap-dance; that's so ludicrious...

Sad thing is though you probably had a better time in HER dream than you'd EVER had in your real life as a JW kid. :)

Rocky Girl- you poor thing what a-holes. Was someone trying to settle a score with your parents? There was a guy who was appointed an Elder in the early 70s. Pompus, dumb guy, IQ barely above that of a brick. He was a terror in the hall causing all sorts of problems. A mature older brother told him "he really wasn't qualified"- they eventually reproved the older brother "because he was calling into question Gods arrangement" !!

Rocky Girl, Your story wins the prize for the most ridiculous reproof of ALL TIME!!! You are right to be glad they did you the favor of being so unfair and unloving that they, in effect, pushed you out the door. Be double glad they did it while you are young.

Well I'm glad you got reproved for someone else's dream. It gave you that push you needed and you broke free.

BTW, I don't see how it's possible to repent for being in a friend's dream. LOL.
