I wanted to add that I now find great satisfaction in supporting these kind of organizations now.

Money that formerly went towards supporting a child molester protecting publishing empire now goes to helping the truly unfortunate in this world.

This makes The Oracle very happy!

    I hear ya The Oracle

And all through out thier literature, they say it's useless to do anything

" Consisder these things that people everywhere need, that human governments are not providing but God has promised : (2) Ample food for everyone."________Reasoning book page 154

" Government by God is the only real solution to the problems of mankind_______Reasoning book page 155

" The Creator has the needed knowledge ( of the earth and of all life processes ) to solve the problems of food production and to prevent dangerous pollutions, but human efforts often create more problems."______Reasoning book page 156

Bottom line : Don't do nothin' wait on Jehovah, while snackin' on a free bible study

A recent thread on J W Talk, that I read , was started by someone who had been informally asked to be on standby for a disaster relief team , a local arrangement as far as one could tell...

They said that the idea was to go in and help "The brothers".. but Hey! if there was any resources and time left over, they might even help some locals..and what a good Witness that would be!

NB.. You are right that they always put a down on Charities, but I and the elders of my time would not have couselled anyone for modestly donating - unless it was a Church charity, of course

Because they follow 7 men and not Christ.

    Matthew 25:41-46

    New International Version (NIV)

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fireprepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. ”

    THEORACLE:

I am glad you pointed out that the religion will counsel any member who is KNOWN to give to other charities. (This is why I always believed you should keep your business to yourself.) Quite a while back, maybe not on this board, a poster told about how he gave to certain people. I believe the general topic was about this thread. I do believe that certain individual Witnesses were very generous and were TRULY christian in ways the religion is not. The religion is cold and heartless and couldn't care less.

But in all honesty to the original question, The general answer is NO. The religion does not feed anybody. They give out literature and advice aplenty but that is it. They do not even feed their OWN. ANY charity comes from INDIVIDUAL people. However, if you are not a 'pioneer' or are not popular or related to the right people, you are simply Out Of Luck! This was my observation.

    www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/223604/2/Impact-on-the-Receiving-end-of-What-the-Bible-Really-teaches

...In the midst of my instruction via “What the Bible Really Teaches”, Haiti was struck by a severe earthquake 12 January of 2010. In the following Saturday morning session at my house, the elder in charge of instruction cited this as proof that we were near the end prophesied, but he was extremely vague about how else we should respond other than to get to the bottom line of the book we were reading through. ...

And the segue to that was an earlier "Matrix Moment" recollection of someone else.

    LOL, Are you kidding???

The Watchtower excepts charity but it does NOT give it.

The world donates blood and JW's will take "blood fractions" to save thier own lives but they will not give "blood fractions"...

    What a joke.

There were no "Kingdom Halls" in Jesus day and Christians "had everything in common" (Acts 2:44) so why the need for all the real estate? If the BILLIONS in real estate that the WT owns was sold, how many people could this feed/save/cure? Jesus said to give your riches to the poor and follow him. He never asked for riches like the religions today do.

Give to the poor? Feed the poor? Help the poor materially?

No, they give and feed to the poor "spiritual food".

There may be some, as individuals that do that , but I've never heard about it!

THE ORACLE...... I was counselled for giving our unwanted clothes, handbags and shoes to African boat people and for buying toys for their children who had none. I was told by an elder by doing that the boat people might accept a Bible study for the wrong reasons!

Best bit of advice I ever got as it turns out.

It didn't stop me, I just did it in secret but it was the start of opening my eyes to the insidious and true nature of the bOrg
