Jake .......welcome to this place where you CAN ask questions!

    .

You are in a great position right now, your eyes are still open,

    .

you are still allowed to ask questions and discus doctrine.

    .

Realize tho, that this will end immediately upon baptism!

    .

Understand that the witnesses will give you all the answers ....but

    .

they also give you the questions! Think about that for a minute!

    .

You need to check everything including jw history!

    .

This decision you are making will affect the rest of your whole life!

Don't be gullible or lazy ... think critically at this time.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Is 44:26"he One making the word of his servant come true, and the One that carries out completely the counsel of his own messengers."

Has Jehovah made the words of THESE messengers come true? Has he carried out completely the counsel of THESE messengers? We all know the answer is NO, HOW CAN THEY BE GODS TRUE MESSENGERS???

Jake, I was raised a jw, am 58 years old, was an elders wife, pioneered, lived my whole life according to how they told me. Like most others here on this forum, we all have come to believe it was all in vain. We might as well have been in any other religion. Jehovah's Witnesses don't have the truth. Don't be lazy. Do your research as others suggested. You are no safer inside the org than out. It is an illusion and eventually illusion has to meet up with reality.

Much love to you. Hope you consider this carefully.

    Welcome Jake.

Im a semi-active witness working on a fade to inactive. I would recommend that you follow Clarity's and the others above(and probably soon below) advice. Ask the tough questions of those that study with you. Read www.jwfacts.com. DO NOT GET BAPTIZED before doing a thorough investigation. You will have not freedom of choice once you're baptized.

    Jake,

There are so many positive things you can be doing to help those in your community and regionally that whatever you decide to do religiously keep seeking ways to help other humans and your environment. All the best.

    Jake:

If you're really genuine and sincere, I would like to put you across my lap and with a big paddle smack those ideas out of your behind. At the same time, I would protect your feelings about wanting to return and that apparently you're in need of something else, the thing they (the Witnesses) are so good at providing, that sense of protection, camaraderie and a sense of belonging. Well, let me give you some advice: You can find all of that elsewhere without paying their heavy price and without living their lies. Maybe the world seems "messed up" to you now, but it's all relative. When the JWs get a hold of you and you start having doubts or don't agree with something (it's bound to happen), you'll really feel messed up then. Read, read, read! And if you're still steadfast on joining them, I hope that you remember what happened on this forum when you find yourself devastated emotionally and spiritually. Maybe it will help.

If 10 years of freedom didn't teach you critical thinking skills, then perhaps a mind- controlling religion is the place for you after all.

I was a JW all my life and at 55 I just couldn't go on thinking "what if" I am wasting my life away peddling literature containing 120 years of false predictions and perpetuating beliefs that have not been proven or worse proven false by science and history! Reasearch on the history of the WT and verification of the secular "proof" used in their doctrine convinced me that I had not one more second to wasted on their account...

Welcome to the forum. Here we help and support those wounded and damaged by the WTBS to recover and accept whatever they've lost, whether it be years of life, education, family. Reading your post is similar to reading a suicide note. We can hardly encourage you, can we?

Edited to add: What you are experiencing is a false sense of security which can dissolve anytime, be prepared for it my friend.

clarity's comments above are something to think about...."they provide you with the questions and the answers".... the Watchtower study is a perfect example of the complete modus operandi of the JW organization.

But, I don't know you. There are many people who want the burden of critical thinking done by someone else. Maybe that's you.

Again, as clarity pointed out, when you come up out of that water your intellectual independance is over. Keep your head down and your mouth shut.

    Good luck
