    Hilary Step:

Many find that against the rigors of the practiced non-believers their faith fails very quickly. Why do you seem unable, as a ‘spirit anointed Son Of God’ to help in any way with their crisis of faith?
It seems to me that most people that come to this situation didn't have much faith to start with. At least it's hard for me to relate to people that so quickly relinquish something that they ought to consider precious. It appears that once a seed of doubt and distrust is planted that it is very difficult to uproot that. Paul likened apostasy to a rapidly spreading gangrene and I think that that is a good analogy. People fool themselves though by going through the motions for years, but then when confronted with something that confounds them they experince what Paul called shipwreck.

Over the years I have recieved comments and emails from numerous friends thanking me for helping them sort things out. But I have no illusions about being able to snatch more then a few out of the fires of doubt.

I have noticed that you seldom is ever tackle the topics on this forum that are leading JW’s to paths of atheism. Why is this?
I think that discussing the philosophy of evolution and related topics with people who formerly had faith is like giving CPR to a crash test dummy. According to the Bible only a senseless person would come to the conclusion that Jehovah doesn't exist. My dealings with JWs turned atheist causes me to agree with that observation. There's not a whole lot that I can do for those who are so spiritually dead as to imagine that Jehovah doesn't exist.

Surely a person of your obvious intellect could well throw up a protective spiritual barrier to these ‘lost’ and ‘losing’ souls by focusing on basic issues, rather than detailed exploration of prophecies that are at the end of the day *all* matter of opinion.
That's not the way I see it. Faith in God's word and the fear of Jehovah is the real protective barrier. And if any person retains a shred of that fear of God and respect for his word then their considering the possibility of how Jehovah's prophecies may yet unfold is not mere opinion but is a genuine basis for faith.

NYT, did not fall into any of the categories discussed above. I hope Robert that you are not trying to defend the behavior of a JW who encourages a son to commit a obscene act with his own mother and laughs at the misfortunes of others.
I don't know what the flap was over NYT. I would never defend that sort of behavior. I just thought I would point out Simon's obvious hypocrisy in selectively deactivating certain posters and not others. / You Know

You have ignored Jesus’ words about life carrying on as normal when he arrives—he said it would come when you least expect it—not in the middle of a man made apocalypse!

How have I ignored Jesus' prophecy? The world is going about in business-as-usual fashion. Are you saying that people in general are expecting Jehovah's day to commence with such an event? Let's face it: You apostates are cluless as regards how Jesus is going to initiate his arrival and commence the tribulation. Jesus is coming as a thief in the night, and a nuclear event could certainly serve as the stealthy means by which Jesus suddenly robs the world of its imagined security, and also it could serve to announce his arrival for judgment and to his loyal ones. / You Know

    You Know:
Where is your love, mercy, healing, kindness, compassion and spiritual guidance? All I have seen here is a bloodlust for judgement that is not akin to Jesus in any way, shape, or form. Remember this scripture?

“Then he started to reproach the cities in which most of his powerful works had taken place, because they did not repent: 'Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! because if the powerful works had taken place in Tyre and Sidon that took place in YOU, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. Consequently I say to YOU, It will be more endurable for Tyre and Sidon on Judgment Day than for YOU. And you, Capernaum, will you perhaps be exalted to heaven? Down to Hades you will come; because if the powerful works that took place in you had taken place in Sodom, it would have remained until this very day. Consequently I say to YOU people, It will be more endurable for the land of Sodom on Judgment Day than for you.'”—Matthew 11:20–24 NWT

Note how those in Capernaum were more wicked that those in Sodom, and saw supernatural miracles of not just a prophet, but by Jesus, God’s own son! And what happened? They didn’t even repent, and what did Jesus say would happen to them? “Down to Hades you will come” Showing that even they would be given another chance via a resurrection due to Jesus’ abundant mercy and compassion! (Revelation 20:13) So how you or the Watch Tower society can say God will just obliterate all mankind except the JWs is astounding, especially when the vast majority of people have no idea what the most basic JW doctrines even are! If those in Capernaum will come back, then why not all those who have had zero miracles, and maybe only a two minute chat with some inept witness on their doorstep? You Know, where is your love and mercy? Why are you so quick to slander Jesus and God and say they will kill all who are not following the Watch Tower’s false doctrines? Have you learned nothing of Jesus and the manner he dealt with people? And do you really think you will attract more to the JWs by your lust for war and anarchy? Most people would be repulsed with such a judgemental organization, and those that represent it.

I am so glad Jesus will judge mankind and not you!— John 5:22

: the events of 9-11 have set off a chain reaction of official policy revision that has potentially far-reaching consequences.

Of course, you've covered yourself here with the word "potentially."

"Potentially," and under the right conditions, a stray fart from a lizard in the Sahara Desert could set off a chain reaction that could destroy all life as we know it.

Four years of predictions and you've got a 100% track record. Just like your masters in Brooklyn. Sooner or later you'll be right and then you'll say, "See! I TOLD you so!," but then again anyone who predicts long and often enough will eventually get something right.

Except those clowns in Brooklyn, of course.

YouKnow: This thread's bogosity level has just reached the lower stratosphere it seems!

Think about this: Unless God (who that is depends on your beliefs I guess) were to intervene, if just about any country fired off a nuclear weapon today, we'd ALL be screwed, Dubs included. It would just start a sh*tstorm of ICBMs zooming all over. We now have enough nukes to flatten every blade of grass on Earth about a hundred times over, and they are all automated and standing ready, on a hair-trigger. Sure, this isn't a promising set of events, but look at it this way - at least if a nuclear war does happen, everybody will die! That would just be perfect, as you seem to be so intent on people dying of late!

That's the point. Only Jehovah can save mankind from their own folly. Jesus in fact indicated that there would be some sort of divine intervention when he foretold, in reference to the tribulation, that "on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short." He also referred to a period before his manifestation as being "after the tribulation in those days."

We now have enough nukes to flatten every blade of grass on Earth about a hundred times over, and they are all automated and standing ready, on a hair-trigger.
Only the United States and Russia have ICBMs capable of delivering payloads over vast distances. The other so-called nuclear powers are mere regional powers. And it's also possible that if the United States struck Russia first that there would be no retailation from any other quarter.

I'll admit it's possible, but it's extremely unlikely. Have you forgotten about little things called allies? I'm not well versed on the topic, so I probably shouldn't be arguing about this with you, but Russia might have nuclear allies who would fire on America too!

The love I was talking about was the love I clearly see NOT extending from you, a purported student of Jesus, who said that we must love our fellow man. Are apostates not your fellow man? How can a God of LOVE possibly kill billions of his own children?

Watch, he's going to tell me about that verse that says you're meant to hate apostates...

And please help me to understand the incredibly chauvinistic teachings that the WTBTS promotes? WITHOUT referring to the Bible? How can you possibly justify things like that before God? Jesus never did anything remotely like what the WTBTS teaches it's men to do to our beloved ladies! That is just a giant thorn in my side right there! Another thing: Jesus forgave people! I don't see you doing ANY forgiving, buddy!
