I said screw it and shared the new light with a loved one last night. The format I used was cedars blog and my iPad. This persons reaction was " now they are just pulling stuff out of their butt".

one question that I asked was, if the fds didn't exist until 1919 (which is based on 1914's supposed events), then how was the extremely important date of 1914 arrived at without the slaves involvement? That struck a chord, mand the response was "that's a great point! None of it makes sense."

Cedars, please keep up the good work! You are helping in ways that you don't even know.

That'll be why they misunderstood what was going to happen in 1914 then - makes perfect sense.

Why are they doing this at all?

What do they lose by maintaining the "anointed remnant" = FDS teaching?

The GB runs it all either way.

It seems like an unnecessary self-inflicted wound.

Splash. They can't get to 1919 without 1914.

Why are hey doing this at all ? to control the growing ranks of partakers, who were getting a bit above themselves and thought they too had a hot line to Heaven.

This leaves it open for them in the distant future (can't go too quick, the R&F may begin to suspect !) to say that all the "Domestics" should partake, like communion in christendom, so as to appear more mainstream.

They could reason along the lines, the masters Household is on many levels, the top level serves in Heaven, you below-stairs lot serve on the Earth.

I doubt they will actually do this, but I think they feel it is giving the GB total control whilst leaving room for manouver in the future.

It just seems they can invent what they like and the mind controlled R&F JW's just accept it, without, needless to say, thought.

    Hmm, yes, good question!

    w89 3/15 p. 15 par. 17 Look to Jehovah for Insight

By means of "the faithful and discreet slave," Jehovah also helped his servants to realize, decades in advance, that the year 1914 would mark the end of the Gentile Times. (Luke 21:24, King James Version)

w75 10/1 pp. 587-588 6,000 Years of the Grand Outworking of Jehovah's Purpose Toward Mankind

In the 1870's there started a thrilling restoration of appreciation of basic Bible truths. Jehovah began to gather his anointed ones. These, as a "faithful and discreet slave" class, again became prominent in carrying out a great spiritual feeding program. Devout Christians began to look forward with keen anticipation to the year 1914 C.E., for this would mark the end of the Gentile Times.

I would be on the lookout for a special talk to be given, or a special announcement to be given on a sunday worldwide. Picture the scene in you mind's eye. Tired and worn the faithful sit through another Thursday night meeting, but wait, thier spirits are refreshed when they hear an announcment. As refreshing as the dew of Mount Herman the announcement for a " very special " announcement will flow from 20 year a old Ms's/window washers lips. The friends can't wait to discuss the special announcement after the meeting. What will it be? New light? Is the end close? Can we use wombat blood fractions and stem cells? Did we purchase Beth-sarim again? With bated breath they wishper during coffee breaks on Saturday morning, giddy as school children. The public talk and Watchtower study seem to fly by. What will the Faithful Slave share with us today!? Starry-eyed, hearts fluttering they wait........Then I ruin it for my Wife by wispering it in her ear just before the announcement!!

Thanks Ann, just two quotes out of many many thousands that the WT will need to bury, they have to leave them behind, bury them, jayzuz, even one of their wack-job pulled out of the arse explanations cannot explain three Amazon basins worth of paper that contradicts the latest New Light.

SIAM - I'm so glad my article helped. Thanks for the encouraging feedback!

As already expressed, I really don't think there is anything to be lost in sharing this "new light". The smallprint may be clarified or even changed when it is finally revealed in writing, but I think our loved ones will give us some latitude in that regard. As regards the key understanding (namely, the FDS = the Governing Body) they CANNOT do a U-turn at this late stage without bitterly disappointing the very people they seek to impress, namely the bethel workers and wealthy contributors who were in attendance at that Annual Meeting. They are tied to the mast of this silly new doctrine now, and there is no going back without doing more damage than it would be worth.

It just continues to amaze me that they were stupid enough to (1) divorce themselves from a teaching that has served them perfectly well for decades, and (2) announce it in such a shambolic manner to a select few, with the majority of publishers to hear it weeks or even months later (if they don't hear it first through word of mouth or on "apostate" websites)! Not exactly an "orderly" way of doing things.
