As the old saying goes, sometimes you have to hit an idiot over the head with a 2x4 to get his attention. I'm not saying that anyone is an idiot, but high emotions and blind faith can cause intelligent people to behave as irrational idiots.

Why do athiests care at all? Let me tell you, when I feel like I'm beating my head against the wall with a person who is close minded and insists on using logical fallacies, I'm inclinded to give the finger and not waste anymore time with you. I'm inclined to tell you to go to the hell you so fervently believe in.

Athiests who actually give two sh!ts and have the patience to try to put in the effort to try to break through willful disbelief? I think those are people who believe humans are inherently rational beings who will actually "listen". I think people don't listen until they're ready. They don't listen until they've already started to figure things out for themselves. Before they've crossed that threshold they are just waiting for their turn to speak.

When does he call himself a master????? I consider myself well versed in all things star wars but i cannot recall luke (in the movies) proclaiming himself a master. What i do recall him saying is "im a jedi, like my father before me".

Luke's Jedihood is unique in that he fulfils the prophecy that Anakin brings balance to the force. Luke's choice to not kill his father is what awakened Anakin from the mind control of the Emperor. Anakin's last choice was to kill his master which only could have happened if Luke didn't kill HIM (if he did then Luke is the new SITH LORD!). So the prophecy of Qui-Gon Jinn didn't come to full fruition until Luke's final choice to spare his father's life. WHOA!

Good point. Maybe some believers wish that atheists should keep their mouths shut so they can keep their heads in the sand. That way they don't have to face the hard questions. I read somewhere, from an atheist, that believers think "Why read a bunch of hard books when I can read just one". I think that is a common attitude among believers. They only learn about what they already belive, and they don't need to do anymore. Maybe it's the attitude that "I already know it all". That's why I love talking to people of all kinds. So I can be well versed in beliefs and constantly be shaping mine.

It wasnt qui gons prophecy though... It was a much older than qui gon. It also was ment to redeam vader in the star wars lore, to shift him from the embodyment of evil to a pawn of fate.. Vader himself was loosly based on masume date, a real life bad ass and samuri of fame in medevil japan ;) worth reading up on him if have a few moments

P.S - Luke calls himself a master while the message is playing to Jabba the Hut.

The Shoguns of Japan were some serious times. About as epic as you can get. Funny that the Samurai turned into scholars though. The pen is mightier than the sword.

That reminds me of the episode in Seinfeld where Jerry plays chess with his penis. Who really is the master of their own domain?

Ahhh well played CA! However that was a bluff to jabba... When luke later goes to see yoda he expressed suprise to himself and says "so i AM a jedi..." to which yoda replies , laughingly, " no not yet... Only a jedi can defeat vader"

Yes it was notworthy that the warrior calss turned scholar sab, but it was related to ... Wait for it.... RELIGION! Many samuri were religious and since zen encourages learning it was for many a natural transition ;)

The Jedi created Vader. The problem with the Jedi faith was that they allowed fear to cloud their minds. Don't believe me? Just look at the Jedi council. The council was totally unneccessary and showed a lack of trust in the Force. Even Master Yoda was to blame. While counciling little Anakin about having fear, he was insulating himself with the council. That same council of Masters who were also fearful persecuted the only Jedi who truly trusted the living force, Qui Gong Jin. He was known for defying the council. What arrogance on the part of the council, the Governing Body of the Jedi. Due to their lack of faith the insisted on organizing the Jedi instead of trusting the Force. I don't have to remind you of the lives affected by their arrogance and lack of true faith. Their powerful works did not save them. A Jedi is the most powerful when they commune with the Force in isolation, helping other Jedi when the need arises, but never forming a Jedi council to impose organized communion with the Force.
