How are "hateful" atheists helping struggling witnesses on JWN or society in general?

Healthworker's, why did you have to go down this rabbit hole? Your OP was not in good taste, please show better judgement and try to put yourself in other's shoes. Your tired of being judged by others, figure other's are being tired of being judged too! I still send good vibes for your JC, please pray how to phrase things in a kinder way. Members on JWN are not your enemy, everyone is still trying to make sense of the mutual hell we are trying to rid ourselves of! Nite Nite!

Did you actually read my first post in this thread, New Chapter?

When you realize you have been duped a whole life into believing in the darkest fairy tales that men ever wrote - and the historical nightmares that it generated - I think one should have patience with the new atheists that are deeply hurt, and need to voice their concern when exJW's are ranting about scripture detail. I became an atheist after over 40 years of serving faithfully a putrid and lying organization, yes - but one must not forget that the WTS claims it's base in 2,000 year old scripture, that is overwhelmingly a pile of dangerous BS.

ExJW like me need just as much help and a need to talk on this forum than any other. There is a LOT of anger and frustration when you realize how duped we were.

I suspect that becoming an atheist after a lifetime of living within the Watchtower is a very natural reaction, and very probably a reasoned decision and choice for many.

I am very fortunate not to have lived that life. My exposure to the WT was no longer than 5 or 6 years at most, and two years of intensive indoctrination/study, so I view with great respect all who had the courage to leave that dreadful system.

Still, having said that, I think the opening post can be read in many different ways, and this whole thread is interesting for the variety of different ways in which people have responded.

As for "healthworker" - I thinks we gots us a troll....

Chariklo, I'm surprised at you. Where did I call this person a troll?

Neither did I. I just thought the picture was comical. Whenever I see people 'freak out' over a supposed troll I have to giggle a bit.

My goodness, Chariko, don't let a goofy message board get you all upset.

    Kind regards,

Here's the deal, atheists are not hateful, they just can come across that way at times. If a study could be done I would hypothesize that the more outspoken an atheist the more likely they are to be of the NT personality type. Rational people who become atheists will use strident speech more often than not to get their points across. They are extremely blunt and they seem to be OK with coming accross as rude because they know deep down that they are just being true and their core value which is to never deviate from rational and scientific truths.

That being said they kind of get tied up in their own rationalism at times. For instance they might call you a liar because you make a claim that you don't have direct evidence for. They will use strong words that aren't necessarily warranted, only by technicality. They don't respect faith or shakey beliefs without cold hard facts which pushes out the more philisophical and emotional temperaments. In the end, everybody has their strengths and weaknesses and it's in everyone's best intrerest if we all keep in mind what our weaknesses are and work on them. Otherwise the goal in life is just to surround yourself with like minded people which is the definition of a cult, which is what we RAN AWAY from.

I have never called anyone here a "troll".

I said the OP was biased, rude, loaded with accusations and assumptions and said I wouldn't answer until the questions were re-phrased.

How that translates into calling someone a "troll", Chariklo will have to explain to me.

The word "troll" is a term that many here like to use in the same way that JWs use the term "apostate". It is simply a word that takes all credibility away from the poster and lets them view ANYTHING that he says with contempt without feeling guilty about it.

Just because the OP used the word "hateful" does not mean that he thinks all atheists are hateful. Some are. Some Christians are too. Some new agers are. Some Muslims are.

If I said, "Why do hateful atheists say such and such" is different that saying "Why do atheists say such and such". The qualifier "hateful" shows that he is not talking about all atheists. Just the hateful ones. Now if he said, "Why are all atheists hateful" that would be a different story.
