I think that it is less a matter of one-upmanship and more a matter of building understanding. I feel that CA was asking the question to increase his understanding of another perspective. We can all gain from viewing things from a different lens. Sometimes I wish I could just say I was a born in and blame the previous generation/s, but I can't. No instead I have to digest the uncomfortable fact that my children grew up in the organisation due to a decision I made. One is still in and in my worst moments I blame myself for my broken family. I have got a lot better and while I will always know that I was the root cause, I have had to learn to accept the good intentions I had and move forward.
Our journey in and out of the organisation is our own, endeavouring to understand the perspectives of others and be supportive is all we can ask of each other.
