Start a thread based on your question.
We really have derailed.
" There is very little positivity because for every positive thing that technology brings to the table it can all be rendered obsolete by a massive solar flare or a space rock. Also technology will always be used as a weapon of mass destruction, which is NEGATIVE"
Your statements are just becoming ridiculous. Frankly, you are either ignorant to a frightening degree, a troll, or suffering a pathology.
Pacemakers
Heart Lung Machines
MRi
CT
ECG
Want to explain how the above technology is evil or a weapon of mass destruction? The above tech saves millions of lives.
What exactly have YOU ever contributed to technology, science or human understanding? What have YOU contributed to society? I assume it is zilch by your lack of respect for other peoples contributions to advancement. Again your ignorance is frightening but also infuriating.
The day YOU offer ANYTHING to the human race, ill listen to your bullshit. Literally, what have YOU done? Nothing! While you bitch and moan from your desk chair calling out technology as evil, some of us are DOING !!!!!
In just over a month, new medical technology that I have invented will be trialed on 2 hospital wards for 4 months. We believe it will save millions of lives a year, stop millions of people a year from having a huge reduction in quality of life and also save the healthcare system billions. I have a team of professors, consultants, doctors, tech experts, working on the devices. I alone in my 'spare time' at medical school took it from an idea, to a patented idea, to a prototype with scientific evidence to back its process, all in 3 years and with award funding. I am the inventor and project leader. My motive is the science we will learn and the positive contribution to mankind.
Today i had a reminder email to finish writing up my research on the criticsl thinking and education of doctors. Using SCIENCE and the SCIENTIFIC METHOD i have a paper and evidence that could help every day medical practice. Again I have done this in my own time and with the purpose of positive potential and the motivation was to contribute to society....... There is no reward to this...
Apart from writing wacky, personal, non-scientific ideas in an internet forum.
What have you done that is so incredible or beneficial so as to be so judgmental and all knowing?
Despite the extra curricular activity I do.... I would still not claim the authority or the right to make the claims you have.
an angry snare x
Jesus christ sab, i just read your reply...
I am doing neuroanatomy 9-5 every day right now. It is currently my job. You are simply wrong.
3 weeks ago on a Wed morning I was slicing a human brain into cortical sections for dissection and learning.... Put your hand up anyone if you were doing that this month, this year, this decade, EVER ? You are so rude Sab, some people know more than you in some areas, you need to sppreciate that. For example i am sure you know more about making up stories and facts than I do, I accept that without any bruises to my ego... ;)
There is nothng to debate. I am telling you FACT, you are spouting your opinion. What I said is FACT, FACT, FACT. Just because you have HUGE gaps in your knowledge, understanding, recognition of evidence, knowledge of evolution... Why the hell would you assume that because you dont understand ...it isnt true?!
What exaclty do you do for a living? Whats your skill? This is not like asking someone who the best bible charachter is, the stuff you are attempting to discuss is highly scientific and specialist. Anyone can understand it, but it requires study, learning and great effort. It is completly evident you are yet to do this. Its like a child who claims to understand maths saying "no 2+2 does not = 4 because 4 can only be made with eight ones." When you try to explain the math, the child says "no no, you see this is how math works..." Its just infuriating Sab, you must be taking the piss!
the reason we know the corrolation of the neanderthal brain, is that we have brains of species related to animals before and after neanderthals and in all of those brains the brocas area is in the same area. Again your ignorance to evoution is clearly made evident. How on earth and why would evolution change the region of communication in neanderthal brains, at the same time continuing the human ancestor pattern of growth in this region of the skull. All the while the brocas area before and after neanderthals remains in one place. You are suggesting that this took place with no evidence just because you dont understand and dont want to be proved wrong. You are a fool!
i dont think you even understand the last paragraph. Thats cool. Either way, thats me clocking out. I didnt realise you were this ill informed.
How on earth did your teachers cope with you Sab, did you refute every fact and make up your own there and then on the spot? You do realise that we are not doing that, we are quoting you evidence based facts.
You HAVE to be a troll, have to be.....

Neaderthal is our ancestor. Do we have any primates that have non-extinct ancestors where you can compare two organic specimens? I am not sure what you mean by "we have brains of species related to animals" would you mind elborating on that a bit? I don't mean to sound pompous, I apologize for the tone.

Yes, but we are drawing conclusions about social norms of Neanderthal. In order to build that structure you would need to logically devolve our brain using mathmatics that are not available because we don't have the actual brain. We only have a theory of what it most likely was, with of course many missing peices. The frame of reference I use is if another fictional species where to study our brain without an organic speciman. My point that we don't know the partitions exactly was not meant to be some large counter point. Even if we do know that, which I now know that we do and I thank you for that, I still have a hard time seeing any conclusions about their social norms to be concrete. However if the principle of brain size to social group size is the same with them, that would provide an excellent point of reference. Could there have been Neaderthal groups who herded in larger groups than people today? They must have been much more sophisicated than the smartest of primates today. Possibly even to the point where they created factions based on ideology, but it would be a lower level of intelligence. Maybe just based on appearence, like the people with the biggest beards.

Neaderthal is our ancestor.
Neanderthal is not our ancestor. This is why these conversations are frustrating. Neanderthal is much more interesting than being an ancestor. We did not evolve from Neanderthal---but we share a common ancestor that is more recent than the ancestor we share with other apes.

I think being overtechnical more frustrating. I guess I should have used the term relative.
At present estimate, humans have approximately 20,000–25,000 genes and share 99% of their DNA with the now extinct Neanderthal - from Timeline of Human Evolution

I don't know where that quote came from, but my understanding is some modern humans share 1 to 4 percent of Neanderthal DNA---suggesting interbreeding.
It's not a technical thing, because it is part of a grand story. Neanderthals are not found in Africa, but H. sapien is. Who migrated out of Africa and became an ancestor to Neanderthal? I'm too tired to go into other theories, but I should look up your quote and see what they were referring to, or how it was broken down, because that's a number I've never heard before.
Sab, I think you should research that 99% a bit more. I've been all over, to some pretty scientific sites, and they keep coming back 4% at the high end of non-african humans. Maybe you could even bring it to the attention of the editors---I would, but I can't find the quote.
