Let's add one more trend to this line of thought:

the enormous liability problem with door to door preaching.

Consider a future judge observing, "So, you nearly demand that your followers go door to door, using your official literature. In addition, you have weekly training meetings that they are urged to attend that teach them how to preach and distribute your products.............

so, tell me......exactly how are they just detached "volunteers" and how do you escape liability for them?"

Somewhere, sometime, this will come up - with potentially disastrous effects. And for what, exactly??? An unproductive, largely fake, 'magazines in landfills' "ministry" ?? Really?

Guys, you can easily imagine dozens of permutations based on the above. The GB MUST 'let go' and take the money and run.

This isn't the 19th century anymore and American hegemony is slipping away. The world's legal and social systems are squeezing them into radical contraction. Even if the GB are nothing but bloviating fools, the lawyers and business advisors must know this.

The one thing i feel you may be overlooking met is that the GB are believers. I think they drink the koolaid they serve. I think the changes you reason on are happening but i take it as a forced changed as oposed to reasoned and purposed change

There is a trend here. Please watch The Dictator by Sacha Baron Cohen, then it all will become clear to you.

Exactly. Your statement " follow the money " hits the nail on the head. WT Society legal reps are not TOO stupid to realize the cash cow of donations and kingdom hall buy outs will eventually dry up if child abuse lawsuits, blood transfusion lawsuits, even perhaps extortion and fraud lawsuits ( which we may not even know about yet ) - start proliferating at an accelerated rate.

WT Society leaders whether the GB or Bethel legal attorneys have always been about the money, power and control over the rank & file JW's. If eventually the WT leaders see that they are LOSING power and control I guarantee you that they will NOT allow themselves to totally lose the 3rd thing they treasure - the money. They haven't become a multi million corporation by being totally stupid business wise. I'm quite sure that if the $hit hits the fan with multiple lawsuits of any kind - the WT corporate leaders of the 4 corporations WILL syphon millions of $$$$ into offshore bank accounts in the Caymans or in Europe outside the United States to avoid losing $$$$$. And the rats who run this organization will flee the good ship WT Titanic and move out of the United States entirely to avoid prosecution leaving 8 million followers to fend for themselves. . That is how I see this eventually going down in time. It will take time. This eventuality wouldn't surprise me at all

ELDERELITE- Some of the GB MAY be believers, but I really don't feel the GB is actually running the business part of the organization or have any say-so as to whether the WT Society would be allowed to continue if financial concerns came into play. WT corporate executives are OVER the GB as the GB is just a figurehead for a much more sinister , huge corporate monster thats running the WT corporation. How do I know this ? I've talked personally with a deceased GB members ex-JW relative who knows. This deception the WT Society is pulling over 8 million Witnesses runs a lot deeper than we or most people realize

elderlite raises a fair point. You can gather as much from reading things like Crisis Of Conscience - they are and have been ignorant dupes who believe their own nonsense.

However, if troubles and challenges emerge (they are, big-time), whose faith cracks first - the leaders or the followers? Who is in the best position to doubt it all? Often, it's the leaders -but you don't see it because of a facade of belief.

Flipper brings up a point that's hard to analyse. In the old days, it used to be simple and now....... I'm not sure. There could be something to the idea that lawyers run most of it, as long as the GB don't get hysterical about something.

Still, push comes to shove, it's about money. Keep in mind also that dictators don't always continue because they 'believe' but rather because if they left, the next criminal to fill their shoes would accuse them of being evil crooks and hunt them down. Saddam Hussein expected a violent death and plainly said so, when he had power.

The GB are different - they can walk away, protected by lawyers.

I've said it before, my personal opinion is that the WTS. is in a process of Reformation, meaning its going through

core changes of its operating structure. WHY ? Because the WTS. has its own past history weighing the organization down.

It should be honestly realized with the advent of the information age via the inter-net, this Reformation process is being helped along.

All those failed cataloged past doctrines have now weaken the WTS. viability of creating the very image its trying to impose,

that it alone is the organization that god has selectively chosen.

The organization is going through bold changes now more so than any time of its known history.

Its now in a way a battle with itself for wherever they go there's a large elephant that stays with them, which is

their own history and one might say its own inherent corruption as a religious publishing house.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if one day they replace the Watchtower and Awake magazines as a part of this reformation endeavor,

you'll remember that the organization did this once before.
