Good point. The snake, being a perfect animal should have been in subjection to him - God told him it would be so. Treachery would have been a totally unknown concept to Adam & Eve. They had never been warned of even what a lie was, let alone full-blown deception. Lord, they didn't even know they were naked.
Don't we all warn our children to be careful of strangers....watch out for people who lie? Sure. Why? We love them. God knew Satan had this power, and knew that it was happening, why didn't he at least warn Adam & Eve?
Seems like he could be considered negligent in his duties as parent.
