I can't imagine not believing in God.

You pair do more for atheism than anybody on this forum.

I don't think atheism needs my help at all, C. And please don't think that I am afraid of or against atheism or it's growth. I am not. It's fomentation is no threat to me or what I believe... indeed to anyone who belongs to Christ/walks by spirit. Atheism is only a threat to religion: only religion has a reason to fear atheism. For one, because it needs the money atheism might otherwise be used to keep from it. The Body of Christ doesn't need anyone's money, though, dear one... at least not for the sake of our beliefs. We receive free... we give free.

Second, atheism could be the beginning of the fall of religion. My faith, the faith of the Body of Christ, however, is not "built" on the same foundation as religion, which is often the measure of how many follow it. Rather, our faith is built on the Rock-Mass that is Christ and so is immovable, able to weather great storms, including the growth of atheism. Third, religion fears atheism because the foundation of most of religion's beliefs are based on man-made doctrines and creeds... versus holy spirit and the NEW Covenant of God... which is not written on stone or in Bibles or set forth in written creeds and mantras... but on hearts, in the form of the Law of love.

So, please do know this: unlike, say, the WTBTS which wants to have it both ways (all manner of freedom for them while denying that to others), I say let atheism grow. Absolutely. Indeed, the more the merrier, I have no problem with that. Because (1) it is a part of this world and this world and its desires are passing away, anyway; and (2) I want the freedom to believe what I wish to be fully respected and so have NO desire to stifle the beliefs/disbeliefs of others. I will comment as to what is stated about God, Christ, the Bible, and related topics erroneously, even lyingly... but that's about it.

Otherwise, I don't really care. Really. I do not.

    A slave of Christ,

    SA

Can you imagine life without the Volcano God of the South Pacific? Yet many have given Him up....OTWO

LOL...I just can't imagine my life without him...would life even be worth living? He protects us from volcanic eruption in the Auckland region. Not like that bloody earthquake god in Christchurch.

Oh, and I truly did not prevaricate, C. I misread your comment, as you first stated. It wasn't until you pointed it out that I even saw my error. So, thank you for that and, again, I stand corrected.

Have these insights been shared with others?

    Yes.

    Are they well documented

    Perhaps.

Of course, if they are, someone here would state that I was just copying that person, lol. ** see below

or have they just been shared with you?

    Of course not.

In fact, the understanding i was given regarding the flesh and the spirit (putting on and taking off the flesh) was shared by Paul (I think, Paul) in one of his letters.

    ** this will apply here.

Can you share them with us, the lost sheep?

I have shared them... (though it is not for me to call you a lost sheep, or anything else for that matter)... in various posts.

    Peace to you,

    tammy

Your statement could be constructed with countless mythological creatures and ideals.... and yet, your life will still be yours to live however you see fit.

God is just another fantasy set in peoples' minds by others who have a need to use an ultimate authority to help control and attempt to explain that which they cannot explain. But this does not always work. And when one discovers they've been told untruths, trust is lost. Perhaps this is a large part of what growing up is all about.

    And still, life goes on....Heaven

Aint that the truth! Life goes on no matter which god you believe in or don't believe in. Take your pick, there are many to choose from, other than the one you were brought up around and familiar with. I mean, if your gonna choose a god, pick one that fits your lifestyle, not just the predominant one in your country.

I disagree Cofty, you and your crowd do enough damage to atheism than any of us could even attempt. I think that's possibly a good thing actually...loz

Oh, you've changed your tune. Earlier in this thread you said we were destroying peoples faith...now, apparently...we help it...I suppose some people like to have it both ways as long as they can condemn people for voicing their opinions.

    Cofty,

So you can argue against believing in God.

No because you made a point I don't understand.

You seem to think that disbelief is a deliberate action that would be against your conscience. That's puzzling.

I want to apologize if my posts seemed rude in any way.

    This was my original post,

i cannot imagine life without believing in God and that he is good and that there will be a better future. I could never believe that this life and this world is all there is. I would be very sad and hopeless. I mean...if there's no God...what the hell is the purpose of life?

I agree with you. I would have to go against my conscience to try and not believe.

What did I mean? I posted because I think there is little in the way of hope without God. I think a person can lose their belief in God. I don't like atheism.

I was raised as a Witness. I was a pioneer never an elder or a servant and I never felt that I wanted any privileges in the congregation. It's not me. I even refused to carry the microphone in the kingdom once I left home.

My brother taught me to pray at a young age and pray I did. I felt a closeness to God. I prayed alot throughout the day and at times when times got dark I prayed more. On another thread I mentioned we had trouble with ghosts for a period. This was one time that I felt prayer helped. The problem took a while. The person responsible for bringing the problem into the house didn't accept the problem but eventually they did and it was resolved. Another time later in my life I had problem come up and I prayed most of the night the problem was resolved the next day. When my brother died it was over a long period of time and I took the matter in prayer to God. But he still died. I feel he helped me get through it. Death comes to all of us eventually.

I feel I have faith (a fruit of holy spirit) in God I trust him because he has helped. I believe the accounts in the Bible. I don't have all of the answers. I fear losing my faith. I have evidence in my life why I believe. It may not stand up in court so to speak but it's enough for me.

Some things scientifically may seem hard to fit with the biblical accounts but I belief in the resurrection of Christ. I belief the gospel writers. If I don't then I have no hope.

My conscience would not allow me to put aside the evidence I have had in my life and allow me to lose my faith I feel I would have to fight against my concience.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think I am, but if I am what do I lose. I've come this far in life with my faith if I continue I get life if don't I end up dead forever.

sorry about the repetition. I tried to make some corrections and it done that.

I think i'v resolved the problem probably through prayer.

Ucantnome - Thanks for your reply.

I think its honest of you to admit that basically you believe because you want to have hope.

You say there are things you believe that don't stand up scientifically. Science is simply a methodical way of investigating reality. Would it not be better to adjust those aspects of your beliefs to conform to what science has discovered? There are respected scientists like Francis Collins and Kenneth Miller who manage to reconcile both although it does mean abandoning biblical literalism.
