    Hi PS

You wrote: Would your faith be any different if you had never read Revelation?

Among other things I think there is application for us today as we consider the specific failures of the 7 churches as well as encouragement as to how history wraps up in the final chapters.

You wrote: "What we get out of reading revelation should NOT be based on conjecture and guessing, it should be based on a reading of it via the grace of the HS."

Amen. I try telling this to Obama=The antichrist types quite regularly. The 7 churches of Asia (the primary recepients) certainly profited from this revelation.

Rev. 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads, as well as those who hear the words of this prophecy and pay attention to what is written in it, for the time is near when all these things will happen. 4 From John to the seven churches in the province of Asia:

    Vand:

"Irenaeus in the second century, a century before the manuscript Parker relies on, already knew of the 616 variation and discounted it as an error:

    mP:

Of course there are errors, but i was only highlighting the number of beast as a starting point. The rest of Rev, the 7 this and that are all references to Nero and events in his lifetime. The problem is most xians have next to no knowledge of this period thus cannot make the connection. There are many books on amazon from scholars that elaborate in much detail exactly how it all fits.

Last but not least, Irenaeus, actually believedt hat Jesus died of old age. You can check the wiki article for more details and citations.

    mP:
I never said to believe its just a launch pad, follow citations and find the names of scholars from there. Often you can find these same scholars on youtube discussing exerpts of their books which is a great quick start. Tehn again wiki says that gravity exists, i suppose that means gravity is made up , right ?

I have to refer to something, and wiki is an easy start, its a bit hard to quote books one buys from amazon here, without a lot of typing etc.

    PS

WHether the number is 666 or 616, whether it meant Nero to the writer or meant a jewisc numerology number showing the "opposite" of perfect ( which would be a variation of the number 7) we do not know and may never know.

    mP:

The problem is 616 is a perfect match and 666 is pretty damn good. If you actually understood all the symbolism you will find all that matches up w/ Nero. For example Nero was the 7th or 10th (sorry i cant recall which) caesar and he also was believed to be resurrected. In fact if one remembers that there were no numbers but numeric values were spelt out using letters (aka Gematria) the book actually said NERO not the number of the beast.

The problem with the Bible is that we conscider it as ONE book... actually... it is a cover for a load of little books, laws, tellings and letters...

It is strange that people have thrown them in ONE book in the first place... I mean... why should a letter that is composed for a certain group of people be used in a book and other letters which may have references to the same drama's not be included? I mean... IF they made a bible why not include the writings of Josephus in it?

Why not include books like the book of Enoch? I have read a couple of chapters and do not really understand why it is not a part of it. If it IS an apocryf then why does Judas refer to it? If the book of Judas was NOT correct then why is it in the bible anyway?

See what I mean? It is strange to mix it all together and put it in one book... to me it seems that the bible is made by people with a certain agenda.
