    Hi all

Regarding the term Expulsado it is not longer in use for many years now. The announcement suggested by the GB is : [Name of the person ] is not longer Jehovah Witnesses. I suppose it is due to legal reasons related to the reputation of the person.

Thanks for the update torre. As has been stated, JWs will not use words commonly associated with other religions, in order to emphasive their separateness, even if they have the same practices. Witnesses don't meet in a "church" and they don't sing "hymns", remember? :) It might help to read the definition of shibboleth.

Is it true that if you're disfellowshiped (excommunicated) south of the Equator, then move to north of the Equator, that you're back in full faith and fellowship and vice versa?

Thanks everyone! It is true that currently JW's don't use this term from the platform. What's interesting is to see the different terms they make us use in order to avoid any comparison with the Catholics.

If you use the word communion (in spanish COMUNION) it automatically refers to Catholics among the Latin community. Therefore my take is that it is just another way to be different.

But in our day to day conversations as JW, ( I am still in) we do use disfelloship or (expel in spanish)

The only way to do this if you don't use your real name and mail your publisher cards and presentation letter to the new cong... but I don't see why go through all this trouble.

When I was a tender young man of just 15 and yet to learn about the delights of women, an announcement was made to a packed hall, after the Watchtower Society study. The presiding elder made the following announcement about a brother of a round 20 who had defied the borg and gone to college.

“I have a grave announcement to make. Bother La*** has been disfellowshipped for committing fornication………….on more than one occasion…………..with different women. He is unrepentant.”

I was told by an elder many years ago that expulsado is used (instead of excomunicar) because is sounds more forceful and has more impact...
