    thank you blinders off.

    one man engages in a solo writing campaign and opens the eyes of 41 witnesses.

    i know that is a best case scenario but its the importance of strength in numbers.

    okage - a bible student said he isnt participating but he still offers encouragement to the idea of doing something.

    Hi okage, My position about writing a letter may change depending on how the letter writing campaign evolves. I said that I would not participate to writing to the WTBTS or its branches, because I was never a JW. I will write to news media because I have been adversely affected by the WTBTS. Please reread my post on 01/28/13.

    Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

    Hi okage, I see you have been more negatively affected by my earlier comments than I at first realized. I can always learn to tone down my responses and acknowledge I could have spoken about your plan in a more constructive and helpful manner.

    So, if I have offended you in any way or come across as saying your idea has absolutely no merit whatsoever, I apologize.

    As for suggesting alternatives, I thought I had (in response to your earlier request). I instanced specific letters to editors in response to the media coverage of such topics as the blood issue, and I advocated forums such as this one for providing the exchange of information.

    In a professional capacity, I also work with religious individuals who are struggling with doubts, guilt or other upsetting emotions due to the "demands" of their religion; yes that also includes Jehovah's witnesses. In my work as a clinical psychologist, I am guided by my discipline's code of ethics.

    My unease over the suggested orchestrated letter writing campaign was primarily about the use of deception (a mock-up letterhead) because it feeds right into the Watchtower's stereptype of how apostates behave: Dishonestly. If you will, I'd like you to take the time to respond to this specific aspect of my criticism rather than reacting by saying I offer no alternative.

    I genuinely felt that "Tal" summed up my concerns extremely well - and in a far more constructive manner than I did.

    I understand how hard it can be when an idea you believe in is criticised by others. Yes, it does appear that critics are taking an easier course in "just" criticising you when you have put all the hard thinking into the topic. I can acknowledge that, yet still hold out the hope that you could begin to at least consider that some of the criticism has merit.

    Perhaps I have the "advantage" of having seen from both inside the organization and since leaving how ineffective orchestrated letter writing campaigns have been in the past - but worse than ineffective, sometimes those campaigns have inadvertently proved to the witnesses that they must have the truth because "opposers" are so intent in using deception.

    Whatever you put your energy and time into, it's good to maximise its effectiveness and minimize its potential to be counterproductive (i.e., give you the opposite result of that intended). Good luck in your endeavors!

    @Steve2

    It's not the criticism itself that bothers me. It's that it's deconstructive. Tell me I'm foul smelling, tell me I'm illiterate, tell me you don't like my hair...but tell me how to make it better.

    And my negativity comes from the accusation that I'm demanding a suppression of negative criticism.

    I feel I've been extremely open to criticism of all kind (positive and negative) as long as it builds the idea and furthers the conversation.

    But I also have been posting on several threads that I feel like my place in this effort or any JWN related effort is severely limited because I'm not established and I've never been a Witness. These fears are proven after the fact by yourself and others, and then an accusation that I'm against people who don't support my idea.

    Whatever the intent, we're both well-versed in exJW enough to know that I'm being indirectly placed on the same pedestal as Watchtower leadership with that accusation. Many will look past it as no big deal and hope the bickering will stop between us.

    But some wont. And those some and their ideas are just as important as the many and their ideas.

    UNITY AT ALL COSTS jk, but this plan wont succeed as "Okage's Plan." It didn't even start as "Okage's Plan." It needs everyone it can get. You don't like the idea of writing to the WTS, I abandoned that by my second post saying "if the majority think it futile," and have only looked back to defend the stationary. The thing you, Sir82, and Oz criticize me for, I abandoned it long before any of you posted on this thread.

    But right now, this current incarnation will, actually, NEW THREAD!!!

    Fair point Okage. It can be hard when you've acknowledged a point and moved on but others keep on at you about it. My apologies.

    @Steve2,

    I've resummarized where we are so far with the plan in a new thread. Please evaluate and offer any critiques that would make this effort more appealing to the casual JWN member.

    .

    @BlindersOff1,

    Buddy! This thing was your idea. I think you'll agree it's coming along.

    .

    @Emery,

    Got your PM and sent one back.

    .

    @ABibleStudent,

    Sorry about that. I read that right after I posted my comment. We're making the WTS point "a matter of conscience." Lol. It's not a requirement. I hope to see your efforts shine bright as we progress.

    by the 'thing' you alude to getting flack from me about (and steve and sir82) do you mean the fraud and deception?

    If so GOOD but, if you abandoned the thought before any of us even posted then why write them in the OP in the first place?

    Oz
