What is it about the game Soccer that brings out the most destructive behaviour of a minority of fans, which seems to be a global problem

Soccer = Hockey on dry land, with galoshes worn

    Room 215 ...

And may I add that when you get bumped by someone from the other team you fall to the ground and make it look like you are hurt (poor baby). Any self-respecting hockey player would throw off his gloves and settle the matter right there.

The beauty of football is in the skill, speed and agility of top players.

Little guys like Messi are protected by the laws of the game to use their skills to entertain the crowd.

If you want to see fat men hitting each other we have rugby.

Two sports that I consider to be violent/thuggish are Ice Hockey and Rugby (thats just my opinion ) whether it be union or league , admittedly I`m not an authority on either.

However, given that I beleive them to be sports that dont abide by love of the game, best man wins whatever the cost , so to speak, their fans do not resort to the violence and destruction of property we see at soccer matches . Rugby in one form or another is a world game ,maybe to a much lesser extent is Ice Hockey , however we dont see this same criminal behaviour.Surely the administators of soccer international need to do more to curb this senseless violence ,because sooner or later it`s going to hurt their pockets .

I love football. Am a season ticket holder at my local Championship club. There is a great atmosphere there and overall is family friendly. There are aspects of football banter culture that can go too far but it does not spoil things for me and my kids.

I did see this however and have to say I've never felt this angry about a game...

** WARNING - very funny but lots of pwoper nawty words. Having said that, since she's from Glasgow you probably won't understand her **

I mean teams get a point for a 0-0 draw for pity's sake, and there are loads of 0-0 draws. FIFA is clueless, no vision. Football is screaming out for a revolution to tweak the rules and make the game more attacking and exciting.

I started a new thread on tweaking the rules to make the game more exciting and was chastised for not understanding the game of football.

I guess I have to agree that I don't understand how a 0-0 game of anything can be exciting to watch.

I can't think of any other sport where you can sit and watch it for 2-3 hours, the score ends up 0-0, noone wins and you think it was great (baseball, american football, basketball, tennis, golf, cricket, auto racing, swimming, track and field, etc, etc, etc.).
