That letter was exceptional Greybeard, you deserve a dignified response, sadly, we probably all know that it won't happen. I am sorry to hear about your losses and the sorrow it's causing you, and do hope you are able to begin feeling better soon. I'm glad you've found comfort with Christ and I hope the Holy Spirit strengthens you to continue to heal. When I'm hurting and it feels too much, I ask for the spirit to ease my pain, and it certainly does, always.

Hope things smooth out soon for you ... just a quick addition

to your statements RE WT making false predictions .....

"An interesting comment on this transformation was made by Carl Sagan in his book Broca's Brain (New York: Ballantine Books, 1979, pp. 332-333):

Doctrines that make no predictions are less compelling than those which make correct predictions; they are in turn more successful than doctrines that make false predictions.

But not always. One prominent American religion confidently predicted that the world would end in 1914.

Well, 1914 has come and gone, and -- while the events of that year were certainly of some importance -- the world does not, at least so far as I can see, seem to have ended.

There are at least three responses that an organized religion can make in the face of such a failed and fundamental prophecy.

They could have said, "Oh, did we say '1914'? So sorry, we meant '2014.' A slight error in calculation. Hope you weren't inconvenienced in any way."

But they did not. They could have said, "Well, the world would have ended, except we prayed very hard and interceded with God so He spared the Earth." But they did not. Instead, they did something much more ingenious.

They announced that the world had in fact ended in 1914, and if the rest of us hadn't noticed, that was our lookout.

It is astonishing in the face of such transparent evasions that this religion has any adherents at all.

But religions are tough. Either they make no contentions which are subject to disproof or they quickly redesign doctrine after disproof.

The fact that religions can be so shamelessly dishonest, so contemptuous of the intelligence of their adherents, and still flourish does not speak very well for the tough-mindedness of the believers.

But it does indicate, if a demonstration were needed, that near the core of the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry.

I do not know how anyone (including your wife) could read your letter and fail to see the heart-jerking questions with which you struggle. I cannot imagine you getting a reply from Bethel, as there ARE NO answers to your questions. At least, no answers that anyone wants to admit, since the only answer IS the conclusion to which you already allude: they have NO Holy Spirit -- they are NOT God's "channel". Dear God, they surely CANNOT admit that. [Insert Jack Nicholson here: THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!]

Does your wife not understand your doubts? your questions? Or, is she a typical brain-dead JW that just follows the bOrg, and would follow them right off the cliff into the sea and plant her tomatoes upside down if that's what they told her to do.

I think my wife finally saw that I was deeply torn when facing many of these same questions and finally discerned that I did not have some ulterior motive for trying to "get out" of the JW religion. It became evident that the things that had happened to me(us) and that I (we) had witness occurring by these so-called "spirit-directed" men, dispelled any evidence to the claim of God's supernatural voodoo spirit direction on them at ANY level.

If your wife is still so "sincere" about following God's direction, how does she ignore the fact that He so clearly "hates a divorcing"?

    Best wishes,

    Doc

I LOVE YOU TOO BRO! I typed that with tears in my eyes. Thanks everyone, I'm ok, not going to off myself, can't do that so please don't worry... I sure can understand how someone could do it. The WATCHTOWER is to blame for that!!! Thats my opinion. YES I would love to bring a class action LAW SUIT against the CORUPT WATCHTOWER CORP, NOT JEHOVAHS WITNESSES... Jehovah Witnesses, Yahwah Witnesses, Jesus Witnesses are everywhere. I still consider myself a witness of God even though my faith is very weak from all of this. I know I should be stronger but it's not easy...

Dear heavenly father, in your sons name I pray, PLEASE put an end to the power WATCHTOWER and its leaders have over our family and friends. Please almighty, end this.

Thankfully the prayers and predictions of the WATCHTOWER ORG have not been answered!

Thanks everyone for your words, they mean more than you know!

Great letter, and of course it deserves a response. But I cannot imagine that you will get one... because the only response is to admit that they are false prophets and NOT God's organization. They aren't going to do that... they ARE the pharisees that throw those who belong to Christ out of the synogagues though.

    Peace and strength to you,

    tammy

Another victim of this disgraceful cult. Greybeard, you are a good guy, you don't need these people, you have good friends, and are doing what you need to move on with your life. Take a day at a time and do what is right for you.

    Dear Doc,

She is " a typical brain-dead JW that just follows the bOrg" sorry to say. She also is the most beautiful loving human being that I personally know and I love her to death. This is the part that kills me the most. I'll get over it in time...

Chances are she genuinely believes if she shuns you, that is your best opportunity to return to the fold. The WTS lost a good one when you woke up. I hope in time your wife does, too.
