good for your uncle, finally getting mentally free is a big deal. I hope your grandma will listen to your dad too.

I hope your entire family gets out of that org, grandma included. But, it's her choice and some folks make stupid choices.

I read somewhere that a large percentage of JW converts are former Catholics.
I personally know one and she sounds just your mom.
The first thing she asked when she got baptized was " What are the Rules?" She was all about the rules. Like a good nun. She treats the governing body like the Pope. She weeps when she sees anybody on the platform who was or is GB. This kind of idea of what religion is, draws people into all kinds of cults. Its like feeling "safe" because you don't have to reason or figure things out anymore, just follow the rules and "obey the leaders", no matter what they say.
Its comforting to a lot of people. They feel "special" "protected" "safe". They also have the idea that the JW's are the only ones who live "moral lives" and without the GB "protecting" them they would just fall apart and go running down the street naked and fall into all kinds of evil. And yet all around them are moral and orderly people, living stable and productive lives, who are not in the "truth". Treat her gently. You may be frightening her.

Our hearts were in the right place.
We were outspoken against injustice and error (when we saw it).
Yet it took a lot of effort and time for us to find freedom.
We spent around 1,000 hours a year for 3.5 years researching the "full Good News" or "unabridged gospel" message in the Watchtower library before it finally set us free.
Whilst I know the Holy Spirit does not go where it is not welcome, or legally entitled to, I pray for ongoing miracles for your family.
Greetings, blessings and peace to you and yours

Even if grandma isn't prepared to listen, she can't ignore the fact that the rest of you are getting on with life... without Watchtower and their unfulfilled promises. Glad to hear about your uncle, at least you've gained that family member.

At the very leasty you have your husband, parents, and uncle and are in a far better position than others who have tried making it out with their loved ones.
Hope everything works out for you, Gojira

Pickler
Hey Gojira, Your grandmother sounds a bit scary to me, reminds me of the old timers in some of the halls I was at. If she is a stickler for honesty she is in for some nasty surprises if she finds out about any of the lies the WTBT$ has told over the years.......if she is able to listen that is. All the best to you & your family. Sounds like you are in for some interesting times.
