unless you have lived in any of those areas, you cannot know. the media takes one small thing, and then applies it to everything...it's crazy. pick any topic. they take one incident, one stupid bastard who took a handful of oxycontin at a party and died, so now they got every cancer patient worried that they cant get the oxycontin because what the media did. they do it to everything.

how much more can we tear down? you don't hear anything except greatness about our wonderful west coast? you should see our west coast, it is in shambles. that tool song, he's saying he wants to flush the entire west coast into arizona bay, our west coast is nuts, there is no structure. our east coast culture creates an atmosphere of structure and strength.

and our east coast structure is what makes the world go round. we need leadership so bad. they aren't going to let obama lead even if he is capable, you hear the commentary on obama these past few days? two major repubs have called him 'boy'...yea this is going well

We Canadians see what your media does.

From before 9/11 to the war on terrorism after 9/11... there was a very specific shift in what the media was reporting in regard to the reasons for being in the middle east. Then it became as though 9/11 and terrorism was always the reason.

Not saying that everyone thought that... but that is what the media presented.

Hi ya Captain - Surprisingly for a gladiator , I live on the south coast of England . I have beamed down into many of the cities in planet America . Visiting the USA is like a star ship enterprise trip, seeing so many whacko Americans. They were always friendly, polite and keen to talk. People in New York were more guarded, as in kept to themselves. That tends to happen in all big cities.

They kept asking me what I thought of their great country. I told them it still belonged to Britain - the United States of Anglia. Could be you were better off when Royal Britannia run your country and all the soldiers wore those smart red coats. Ah, the good old days!

the media have to go to college. do you know what they teach them in college? they teach them how to do anything and everything to twist a story to make it as juicy as possible, this is what they teach. the hilarity of it is that if we went back to old style cronkite media their ratings would go up indfinitely and public sentiment would also go up, realizing that the media is at least somewhat representing the day to day lives of people. and not sensationalizing every piece of absolute shit they can find.

gladiator: this is not at all personal i know my people, they just do not like you. new yorkers have an unspoken code, and this is why i love the east coast so much...there is an unspoken code, and if you know how to speak it, even if you aren't necessarily part of it, everything is cool. as soon as they hear accents like british, its no good man....not in new york, not in the city. not unless you have an already established group of people there for you. i am not prejudice against brits,we are obviously allies, but the inner workings in such a place as new york, has to be left to new yorkers, that is the way they are, but it is structured and that is why i like it. it is structured, and *hardcore* that is why i like it, that is what i was raised on, and that is what shaped me.

I've visited the US several times. Shocking for me was the divisions. W110th Street in Manhattan. How many white Americans have ventured north of that line?
