What do you believe about the bible?

I think the Bible was put together in about the 2nd century by Constantine as a means to rule his people. The priests on his counsel decided which books to include, and not include. Those men are supposed to have been inspired by God Almighty. Then, the first big church to have this bible, kept tight control over it. Most could not read. If you didn't subscribe to being Catholic, you were killed at worst or not burried in the city walls, at least. Again, unadulterated means of total control. What I keep wondering is if some of the holy books were left out, why?

As for the Bible, it'the word of the God of Abraham. I have alot of issues with the old God of Abraham. He told a father to kill his son, and then stopped him. A Jewish man just tried to reason with me. He said it was becuase God was teachiing Abraham that family comes before God. I never thought of that story that way. I always thought of it as a crazed, tyranical God who demanded absolute worship and martryrdom from his subjects. That God is someone I can't put my heart in. In short, people can make the Bible say/mean many different things. Then comes Jesus, my nice guy. He's from his Father, but it's like two completely different peoples. I saw a special on BBC about Jesus actually being inspired by Buddhism. Don't laugh, until you watch the special.

If someone comes to you with the "absolute Truth" on the Bible; watch out. See the July 15th Watchtower

I don't "look down" on those who believe in the Bible wholeheartedl, anymore then I look down on those worshipping Zues. I just don't share the same thoughts. I don't deny that there is a creator(s), but whoever it is has decide to not open the skies and show himself for a very long time. Until I get more proof, I will go on about my life trying to enjoy every minute and every person I meet.

We have another "prophet" in the makings. So does God lead people to the "lie" so that they can arrive at the truth when they are ex-JW's?

    Yes!

So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie,
I am still not clear, Ablebodiedman.
But if you are saying God deliberately led anyone to Jehovah's Witnesses, then He's a real a**hole.

2nd Thessalonians describes the condition of "true Christianity immediately before Jesus Christ returns.

The "man of lawlessness" enters the temple of THE God.

The Watchtower Society would like the rank and file to believe this happens to false religion however, the paradox is that

it happens to the temple of THE God. So is THE temple in false religion or true religion? Do you see the paradox?

Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses at one time were Jehovah's Witnesses which, means they also at one time agreed to be baptized fully agreeing with ALL the doctrine!

    We believed it! ................................. right!

    We believed the lie!

Millions Now Living Will Never Die.

    They postively will not die.

    The original sin.

Satan has had spectacular success using the very same lie he told at the start.

    Humiliating isn't it!

    We thought we were rich!

I've read it completely at least twice. Piecemeal over an extended period interrupted by reading it cover to cover. It's a thick, cumbersome and convoluted book. A work of fiction. Bloody awful fiction at that, and the leading character is appalling. Quoting Dawkins, jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. The rest just bad supernatural scribble that over the two past milleniae has rained down some really horrible stuff by people in power who interpreted the book in their own particular way. The sooner Yahweh gets relegated to the scrap gods pile the better.

What do you believe about the bible?

I believe the bible makes an excellent paper weight.

If on a windy afternoon you open the window and your papers start blowing around in your office, set the bible on top of them for added weight and support from the scriptures.

Also if in the event a bug runs across your floor, see if they can survive the "word" falling from above them.
So far I've seen an ant, roach, housefly and a spider that didn't survive their judgement that came from above. But in all fairness to them it was the largeprint bible with references so it had a lot of added weight to it.

The bible is the worst curse ever given to humanity. More people have died and suffered because of its evilness and complete lack of goodness.

StoneWall We have no choice in this life- we must live by thinking rationally- and reading the Bible, examining its various parts, and looking at other comparable ancient texts should lead a person to see the Bible for exactly what it is...

    Onthewayout,

Thanks for clearing that up. (Could you all read sarcasm in that?)

    No sarcasm intended.

    I am being completely sincere!

You asked a very good question which can indeed be resolved by reading the bible.

An excellent opportunity to validate my statement:

The Ex-Jehovah's Witness community is THE key target audience for the bible.

Our own spiritual predicament can be measured and understood by reading it.

Contemplate this scripture which is considered and end time prophecy:

    Isaiah 66:5-6

5 Hear the word of Jehovah, YOU men who are trembling at his word: “YOUR brothers that are hating YOU, that are excluding YOU by reason of my name, said, ‘May Jehovah be glorified!’ He must also appear with rejoicing on YOUR part, and they are the ones that will be put to shame.”6 There is a sound of uproar out of the city, a sound out of the temple! It is the sound of Jehovah repaying what is deserved to his enemies.

A large number of the Ex-Jehovah's Witness community are Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses because they were disfellowshipped.

They were indeed excluded by reason of God's name ............ Jehovah.

An anouncement is made from the Kingdom Hall Platform that; "[Name of person] is no longer a Jehovah's Witness"

Is there any other world wide religion who do this?

Also notice in verse 6 that it is all about enemies in the temple of THE God.

Which brings us back to what I said about 2nd Thessalonians in posts above.

THE key target audience of the bible is the Ex-Jehovah's Witness community.

Yes, it IS all about us.
