" The very first book of the Bible is a lie "
The very first sentence in the Bible is a lie.
They also want you to believe Cain married his little sister.
Hey scary21, you evidently were not at the Theocratic Ministry School two weeks ago! Otherwise you would have benefited from Talk No. 3 "Where did Cain find his wife?"
This was taken from the Reasoning Book p301 but with an UPDATE from WT 10 9/1 p25. This little gem tells us that Cain could in fact have married one of Eve's granddaughters. However the article ends by saying "Thus, we can conclude that Cain's wife was one of his female relatives."
The creation account, along with the flood story, confusing languages at Babel, the Exodus, the list goes on; all complete twaddle.
George
oooh, you literalists. If you don't take the books literally, they can be enjoyed as allegorical tales.
I can imagine a thousand years hence, they'll be calling Aesop's Fables a bunch of lies.
Scary 21: Thanks
Snare: LOL. "all of a sudden shout...Oh bullshit! How would
that work in the KH, It,s bull crap people, go home and read.
Return: "In the beginning GOD created the heavens and earth".
When I begain to think for myself I spent months researching,
after a year I moved on to the 2nd chapter, well not moved on but
realize the first chapter was nuts.
St George, TY so much for the new lite....lol So ..... ( if this were me ) Let me get this straight. I wait untill my dads grandson is old enough to marry. That would be my nephew right ? .
Stll wondering why all the young ones wanted to get away from their family? Adam and eve, Cain and Abel must have been a real drag. You know cramping their style. Too many rules at home. What a joke !
Maybe all that interbreeding from the begaining caused
some negative human behavior, creating a invisible God.
The human brain not fully develop.
Who were the fugatives? just something more to cast doubt on yhe veracity of the biblical ccount.
"Adam" also means mankind collectively. I believe that rather than a literal name of one man, the bible writer was conveying the fact that "adam" or the human race was created.
Also Adam could have represented the male race and then eve the women, as she is the "mother of all mankind".
To JWs Adam and Eve will always be literal. There is too much riding on it for that doctrine to change, even to something representing a point in mankind's history. TBH however you can call this part of Genesis whatever you want - fact or allegory - the problem is if you continue to assert any kind of divine inspiration and import to it. The reality is that it is simply a story with no divine meaning.
