Looks like the proper spelling of the God of the universe is YEHOVAH.

Julia - that thought has popped into my head at times as well. But I think, it is how the information has been presented, if somone consistently looks at something in the negative, and then promotes it via text, in the negative (slanted opinion ) a story can take on a different meaning to the original.

Which is why I think it is important to research all of the material, without the wt slant, and re-learn it. There is a wealth of info out there that can expand on the story and pad it out, getting a broader understanding rather than a narrow perspective.

What , where, when and why ? are questions I always ask.

The point about the je-hova information is not whether or not God is the Biblical father or creator etc.

But, was he assigned a name, incorrectly. If so why ?

One thing I have noticed is this, in the story book that is the Bible, the information in it is only there for a 'reason'.

Names are very important. If the name/title je-hovah was used to describe someone who is not God, but an imposter, or if

the name was used specifically to identify the imposter, by his traits and personality, then why would it be ascribed to God, the Father in the story.

Why and how would that name be propelled to such a level and have so much control over the lives of some 7 million people are living under slavery of this name, which belongs to. Bearing in mind, it appears all we hear are negative's and bad things about this organisation. Good or Evil.

someone which is the opposite of everything that forms their construct.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, it has helped me to see where you all are "coming from", which means hopefully in future I will not tread on anyone's toes !

I have decided that in my life I will only trust something as being true to the extent that it will affect my actions, if that something has sufficient proof to back it,

the kind of proof that would satisfy a Jury of sceptical experts.

If such proof is lacking, I simply say, "well maybe, but it does not affect me".

Put simply, Belief is not for me.

So, as far as my life and thinking are concerned ,there is no God.

And nothing I have seen on this thread convinces me that there is a single God of the Bible, I see an evolving Theology that merges in to a Christology, which of itself is not without dispute within the NT.

Interesting last post tec. So maybe certain parts of the OT are libellous, giving him a bad name?

[Added:] Don't Muslims also think that the OT is not completely accurate?

    Now any questions ?????

Yes. How can you claim to be an expert and yet never have heard of Strong's Concordance? That's like saying you are an expert on culinary arts and have never heard of Julia Child or have never heard of espagnole.

Interesting last post tec. So maybe certain parts of the OT are libellous, giving him a bad name?

Yes, like that. Or misunderstood by us, or simply mistranslated. That is why Christ is the image of God, and we are to listen to Him.

[Added:] Don't Muslims also think that the OT is not completely accurate?

Perhaps... but they do believe in the scriptures, according to the Koran. (I believe it is the NT, that they think is not completely accurate, mainly because they have a different understanding about Christ) Mohommad came, thinking he would be received as a Prophet, because the Koran acts as another witness to the scriptures. But like any other religion/faith... the holy book can be interpreted and/or abused, to see what you want to see. (or what you want others to see, if you claim to be a teacher)

    Peace,

He did not behave differently than the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

    mP:

Why do you tell fibs, when you know that Abraham did not know Jehovah. Look at Exodus 3.

    website

www.exodus-314.com - a website dedicated to the interpretation of Exodus 3v14

THE NAME OF GOD AS REVEALED IN EXODUS 3v14 - written by K J Cronin.

''Exodus 3v14 is universally recognised as being amongst the greatest interpretive challenges in the Bible.

There has been no consensus on the meaning of this verse for at least 2,300 yrs, because the meaning of just 4 words therein

has defied all efforts at being convincingly explained.

What makes these 4 words so intriguing is that one of them is identifiable in its context as a Divine name,

and that this 1 account, for 3 of the 4 words under consideration.

    The 4 words are

ehyah asher ehyeh in the forst part of exodus 3v14 and ehyeh in the second part.''

haven't read it all, just found it.

where have I claimed to be an 'expert' ?

Can you show where I have claimed to be and 'expert' ?.

Is one not allowed to have a discussion or conversation on any topic with any person unless they present credentials as being an expert ?

What credentials would they be ?

    regards
