How is it right to Pioneer on the Public Dole? If they can sit in a car for eight hours a day, how come they can't drive a Taxi or work at Walmart? What good are the doing to our society by sending Myriads of crazoids into the Ministry to tell of the Watchtower's Changing Doctrines?

I'm not sure if this is the 'dole bludgers' type story the current affairs type shows love...

In my congregation, there was a couple who were on unemployment who reguarly auxilary pioneered, but in all fairness they were also actively seeking employment. The wife did work a few hours a week and last I saw her she was aiming to increase her working hours by diligently working hard at her job.

There were others though... including a regular pioneer who was on the dole and expressed no interest in looking for work. She justified herself with already being employed and getting paid by the government for her job... just like a public servant. Somehow I don't think Centrelink would have agreed with her.

A shame about ACA you're right Brinjen. Also, an expose on ACA would be put down as Satan's media persecuting God's true servants. That's a win for them.

My first congregation i attended in souther California, we had 3 sisters who were fully capable of working, on welfare and all three were pioneering. they made no qualms about it, California had a too liberal policy for welfare. They were forever trying to invite themselves over to our house, and pestered my wife about inviting them over for a good meal which she did on a number of occasions. Their last meal at our house they mentioned they were on welfare and it was a great way to get support and at the same time to pioneer. I told the wife afterwards never again are they to come to our house. They are abusing the system and the CA welfare agency didn't seem to give a damn when it was reported to them by another brother and his wife in the cong. so yeah some definitely abuse the opportunity to sit on their ass instead of working to support themselves, and expect the state (the tax payers) to support them while they are out wasting time knocking on not at homes.

I wonder what the others in your cong thought of them? I bet they looked at them and felt that their hard work to support themselves and or their families was being slapped in the face by these bludgers. That's how I would have felt when I was in. I bet the pioneers who did the right thing and worked really resented them.

I think each US state has their own unemployment program which the feds can subsidize a smaller portion.

In my state, people receiving unemployment have to prove they are looking for work. People who are fired and it was valid do not get unemployment. Unemployment is not permanent, it ends after awhile unless the state/feds extend it.

People who cheat whether it is employees or employers (do not pay unemployment tax), must pay it back. Their salary can be garnisheed, their tax refund intercepted, their houses, cars, boats, be taken and sold.

When I was a Secretary, many years ago.... we were told, at an elders school weekend, that we should not recommend Regular Pioneers who lived on State Benefits. This was considered a bad witness to the outside world.

If a Bro. wanted to Aux. Pioneer in between his Jobseeking activity, that was O K but he should stop it mid month if he was offered a job

Nb .. In the U K the authorities are pretty hot on chasing people to go to job interviews these days

I wouldn't have those people over my house again either. How nice of them to brag!

I have absolutely no pity and no use for JWs who don't want to be part of the workforce. I am referring to people who are walking and talking, can go shopping, out in service and are even seen wearing high heels! Unfortunately, disability benefits is the new welfare for many JWs nowadays.

I have no tolerance for deadbeat JWs and I would never give them money.

Over here in Britain its practically compulsory to be "on the dole" or in receipt of "disability benefits" before you CAN be a Jehovahs Witness...LOL I used to work for the benefit agency and the amount of "brothers" on some kind of disability benefit was unreal,I would see them at congregation do,s prancing around and volunteering at assemblies and when I turned up to fill in their forms they did a brilliant impression of a paraplegic !! I used to go home and grind my teeth because I was criticised for being one of the only sisters who actualy worked outside of the home. Such hypocrites!
