So all of the talk about a revision of the NWT in English is untrue? I'm not surprised, but that still leaves the question; why then is the NWT out of stock in the US? hmm. maybe they will change their name from the Watchtower BIBLE and Tract Society to the Watchtower TRACT Society.

Now that we know that the summer conventions do not have a NWT release, the only reason that is coming to mind for me for the NWT to be out of stock for a long period is a cash shortage.

Since all the members of the NWT translating committee are dead, getting a revision will be difficult. But then again the GB could hire a medium to channel Fred Franz to guide the task.

Unlike the Revised Standard Version Bible which was first published in 1946 and totally revised 50 years later as the New Revised Standard Version, the NWT has seen little updating. The NWT still uses vocabulary of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries rather than 21st Century English, no doubt courtesy of Fred Franz who completed his education in 1913 and then spent the rest of his life at the Watchtower monastery in Brooklyn, isolated from the real world.

Of course there isn't a new NWT. It's already the very best bible translation done by anybody, ever! And of course they're out of stock in the US.... Everyone wants one! They must be placing them fast. Everyone wants the Truth!

Seriously though.. Would a revised NWT not cause some to question the validity of the first one? The last thing they want is to have members researching the translation on their own.

I am NOT looking forward to this torture sesh. I am, however looking forward to a trip to the city with my wife and some good friends. We'll be eating good food at nice restaurants every night, staying in a nice hotel (WT approved of course), and doing some shopping while we're in town. It turns out our close Dub friends are actually really cool and I like spending time with them. ASSembly weekend is always a mini vacation because we have to travel over 4 hours to get there.

The tracts pose a question- implying the JW is interested in your opinion-- WHICH is certainly not true. The householder will find out the JW is going to diss his opinion, and harangue them with 10 minutes of WT drivel.

Notice how cheap the pictures look. They've been favouring that water colour style for awhile, but modern and appealing publications ie non Jw ones are shiny and bright, not in lovely pastel water colours like these. It's like they don't want people to be interested.

So, aside from the colorfullly prescriptive we-really-don't-care-what-you-think-this-is-what you-should-think-tracts, no other publications were released? Come on, you've got to be kidding?! The paucity of releases makes the "old" 192 page pocket books appear weighty and meaty by comparison. Sounds like a spiritually anorexic fast. Meat in due season. Not.

There's gonna b a new book n dvd. It was mentioned in another thread. How loving of the brothers to provide such wonderful food at the proper time! You can really see how Jehovah is blessing the work and He's really speeding it up! This must be the last big push before the end!

    Bleh I can't go on...

    Light-colored pastels = less ink = less $$$$$$$
