You can find more truth at The Urban Dictionary website than you can find on that shithole of a site.

They are actually side stepping the question and answering do they shun inactive members, not DF'd or DA'd or apostates...but I agree that it is still a lie.

If you leave the org and say nothing to anyone about why you left you will probably not be shunned. But once witnesses ask you why you no longer attend meetings and you then procceed to tell them, you will be shunned by those witnesses after that. And if you actually dare to start the converstion as to why you left, then you will be shunned by all witnesses that know you have done that.

"Do You Shun Former Members of Your Religion"?

Depends what they mean by ''former member''!

This is the WTB$ being devious with words again. They are trying to give a lovey dovey image to those unaware poor suckers that they wish to attract in before they suck the money and life out of them.

Theocratic warfare or just plain propaganda?

Those who were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.

This is careful wording. It's more or less true, but your mileage may vary from one set of elders/congregation to the next.

Basically if you fade quietly, you are not technically disfellowshipped. I faded quietly and my JW family still talks to me.

On the other hand, what is NOT mentioned here is those that disagree with doctrine or commit some offense like fornication or smoking.

So it's weasily, but basically the truth.

It is not basically true at all, Punkie has hit on the pertinent point, "former members of your religion".

The WT do not consider merely inactive ones to be "former members", if we were they could not threaten us with a JC, no, to be a "former member" you must be either DF'd or DA'd.

True, as said above, they have sidestepped the question and answered a different one, as Politicians do, but in reality this is not just weasel words, it is an outright lie.

All "Former members" by what is the WT's definition are shunned.

To be even handed, here is the complete reference on JW.ORG.

"Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest."

"We do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin. If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible’s moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped. The Bible clearly states: “ Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. ”— 1 Corinthians 5:13 ."

Let's not imitate the WTBTS methods by only telling part of the story. I'm not being an apologist, but the statement admits fully that certain ones are shunned - those who are disfellowshipped. It appears to be making the point that "falling away" does not merit 'stoning to death', contrary to the personal view of a C.O. who told me that he would refuse to talk to someone who'd stopped associating with the congregation.

    P.S.

It still doesn't change the fact that shunning is un-scriptural and is an evil teaching & practice!
